I have been reading Nora Roberts for YEARS. I love her writing, all of it. There are some I like better than others but I always like the story.

Three Fates, in my opinion is BY FAR her best single title ever. It is lovely and funny and sad WOW! I just reread it for about the bazillionth time and it once again jumps out as my favorite.

I love her series and trilogies and have a few of them as my favs...but for single titles this one is it for me.

If you haven't read it yet, give yourself a treat and try it now. If you like Nora you will not be disappointed!!

Happy reading,
Karin M.

I bought this book for just something to read on a long flight but I could not put it down!!! Its a modern day treasure hunt with a evil villian and of course ... romance!!! If you read this book and like it I suggest you read "Hot Ice" by Nora Roberts and "The Book of Seven Delights" by Betina Krahn.

This book as absolutely charming, exciting, and very funny.

The book starts out with Malachi and Tia.

Malachi is the oldest brother of an Irish family. His family has a legendary story from a great-great grandfather, who had brought a silver Fate statue into their family. However, he knows there are two others. So he tracks down someone, who is somewhat unsuspecting to his intentions for information.

Tia is totally clueless, and very adorable. She's a book writer, and studies in the greek mythology. She's kinda kookie, and she's not sure how much she can trust Malachi. She needs plenty of advice from lawyer and hairdresser to help her see things clearly. She also has this goofy attribute from her mother; she's very obsessive compulsive with the maniacal many diseases that her mother has instituted in her to plague her mind.

There are also secondary stories intermixing: With Gideon, the second brother and an exotic dancer running through Rome and being chased around New York. And also Rebecca, the younger sister gets pulled into the mix with a wealthy New York security executive, who also collects sculpted art and has a personal interest in the Fates.

I really enjoyed this book. Liked it so much, I got it in hardback!

This is 1 story about 2 brothers and a sister and the figurines of the 3 fates. If you like Nora Roberts Trilogy Books, you will enjoy this one. It was like 3 books in 1. There was plenty of globe hopping from Ireland, to New York to Greece. Parts of the story are contrived, but you are so caught up in the story, you won't notice till much later on. Overall, it is definately a keeper.

A great read and mystery. Published in 2003, it's one of Nora's best. A classic. I've read this novel several times over the years, as it takes you on a great ride in intrigue over several decades, interesting characters, with romance thrown in. But mostly, it's the author's way of writing that captivates you, and you "fall into the story."

Recommend highly

Three Fates is a dynamic romantic suspense story about a quest inspired by legend, and accomplished by destined love. According to Greek mythology, the three Fates influence the destiny of all mankind, for one spins the thread of life, the next measures it, and the last cuts it at the proper time. To control any of the Fates is a powerful temptation.... Three beautiful silver statuettes of the Fates were made long ago, designed to link together. Legend says that to possess any of them brings good fortune -- and to possess them all brings power beyond imagining. One of the statues was stolen just before the sinking of the Lusitania. When the thief's life was spared in that disaster, he gave up his errant ways -- but he kept the statue as a keepsake and in time passed it on to his descendants. After their family is tricked out of that statue, the Sullivan siblings -- Malachi, Gideon, and Rebecca -- become determined to get it back, and to reunite the long-separated triad. Their search leads from Ireland to Europe to New York, entwining each of their lives with a new ally whose destiny is also linked with the Fates. And each of them is fated to face deadly danger as they match wits with a ruthless enemy who is determined to claim the three Fates as her own.

Acts of thievery ultimately lead to justice in the wildly prolific Roberts's latest romantic suspense novel. The little silver statues representing Greek mythology's Three Fates are an art collector's dream: they're extremely valuable individually, but priceless as a trio and legend has it that when put together, they endow their owner with power over destiny. When a German U-boat torpedoes the Lusitania in 1915, petty burglar Felix Greenfield is in the midst of purloining one of the Fates from a first-class stateroom. Felix survives the ship's sinking and vows to reform. Flash to the present, in which three of Felix's descendants calculating Malachi, slick Gideon and intelligent Rebecca Sullivan have just had their Fate stolen by Anita Gaye, a ruthless and menacing antiques dealer. Vowing to recover Felix's statue, the three siblings depart Ireland to search the globe, finding love along the way with a pan-phobic Greek scholar, a stripper and a security expert. Like the Three Fates, the six principals learn that they will only be powerful enough to defeat Anita if they can operate as a single unit. Though it's a slick, snappy read, this character-heavy sudser is far from Roberts's best. She uses the words "three" and "fate" so often that the repetition becomes comic, the siblings' exotic globe-trotting amounts to little more than location name-dropping and Anita, a villainess of Cruella de Vil proportions, is a caricature rather than a character. But Roberts has been so popular, and for so long, that her legion of fans will undoubtedly forgive her for this one while eagerly awaiting her next.

She was shimmering silver, small enough to fit in the palm of his hand.He took possession of her on an impulse-never knowing that she was more than just a trinket who might fetch a pretty price in a pawnshop at the next port. Then a thunderous explosion rocked the ship-and in mere minutes,so many fates were changed...

When the Lusitania sank, more than a thousand people died. One passenger who survived became a changed man, giving up his life as a petty thief-though keeping the small silver statue he lifted, a family heirloom to future generations. Now, nearly a century later, that statue, one of a priceless, long-separated set of three, has been snatchd from the Sullivans. And Malachi, Gideon, and rebecca Sullivan are determined to reocver their great-great-grandfather's treasure, reunite the Three Fates, and make their fortune.

The quest will take them far from their home in Ireland: to Helsinki, where Malachi seeks out Tia Marsh, a formidable American scholar whose priveledged background, sharp mind, and authoratative knowledge of Greek mythology masks a fragile, fear-plagued woman within, and whose family is an important link to the mysterious mmissing statue. To Prague, where a bold, exoctic dancer bnamed Cleo will enchant Gideon Sullivan-and embark on a gamble to turn her life around. And to new York, where security expert Jack Burdett joins the Sullivans in their fight against an ambitious woman who will stop at nothing to acquire the Fates.

Fast-paced and full of the romance and passion for which she is famous, THREE FATES is Nora Roberts at her adventurous best-an unforgettable tale of luck, love, and the fateful decisions that shape people's lives.
