Isabel has come home to Fools Gold to work in and spruce up the family bridal boutique, Paper Moon, until her parents return from their vacation and are ready to sell it. Isabel has dreams of her own in the fashion world and they run deeper than wedding dresses.

Ford Hendrix is also back in Fools Gold and Isabel cant help but think he is avoiding her because from the time she was 14 to 24, she wrote him regularly while he was serving in the Navy. He never once responded and while she is not the same girl as she was when she was 14, one doesnt forget their first love.

These two fall into an easy friendship built on the necessity of an over bearing mother. Their relationship is fun and flirty and the sparks do fly. I loved the way they teased and joked with each other and watching them build their new lives was a treat. Ford was a lot more approachable and light hearted than I had anticipated. After hearing so much about the long lost Hendrix brother in previous books I was expecting a broody mysterious type. He was a little gun-shy in the relationship/family department but I guess that comes with years of being away from home and in the service.

I love this series and this book, and my only complaint, just like in the previous book, is that the endings in Just One Kiss, Two of a Kind and now this one are all very similar and tie up too quickly. Other than that it is practically perfect and as always leaves you impatiently wanting more.

4 big stars!

Susan Mallery knows how to write romance! She writes beautifully and her characters are so engaging and believable. I enjoyed this book so much.

Isabel and Ford had a "fake" relationship for most of the story but I loved it. Loved, loved the banter and wittiness between the characters. The secondary characters were an added bonus. I got to visit Fool's Gold for a few hours and didn't want to leave. I cannot wait to read her next book.

For Contemporary Romance lovers everywhere. You will NOT be disappointed!

This is a really good book. I got a bit more involved in the secondary story though. I'll be interested to see where that story goes.

If you have read one Fool's Gold novel, you've read them all. Pretty much. Same type of plotline and same type of ending. What makes it worthwhile is the interactions between the characters, usually filled with humor and silliness.

I'm glad Mallery included Consuelo and Kent's story. Even though they are considered secondary characters to Ford and Isabel. It added a nice break. The group of girlfriends getting together added to the warmth of the place.

Do expect a lot of phrases repeated over and over again. It does get annoying and I wish Mallery would get a better editor.

So yes, the story between Ford and Isabel has been done a million times and not exactly deep, but Mallery does manage to make it lighthearted and fun.

One of the better Fool's Gold novel in my opinion.
