I had never read this author before. I think she could have grabbed our attention better on the 1st 4 pages, but since she is an established author she has a following, I kept re reading those pages to see what I was missing. Then the story got great! I loved her story and her characters. There is sex, and it seemed like it wouldnt be the same story if you took it out. You really felt like these 2 loved each other and it wasnt about sex. She kept you guessing about some things too. You will be glad you read this one.

Very good book, one of my favorites. A stranger grants you three wishes-are they real and at what price? Loved it.

On a bitterly cold October evening, a truck skids across icy roads into a car that slides uncontrollably into pedestrian Bree Miller. The driver, Tom Gates, spends days helping the woman recover both at the hospital and later at her home. As they fall in love, Bree eventually tells Tom about her near-death, out-of-body experience and her recollection that she has been granted three wishes by the Being of Light she met during the episode. Once the three wishes are granted, she feels that she will die once more. Bree uses one wish as a test but the result is ambiguous, so she can't be sure if it is luck or the true power of the granted wish. It is only after her death that Tom has the hindsight to see that Bree's three wishes had been granted.

After reading this book, I told my husband I wanted to move to a small town where everyone knows everyone and takes care of their own. The story takes you on an emotional roller coaster. Happy and sad.

What a lovely book! I say that often but it's true again here. The characters of this small Vermont town were well developed and appealing. Great story and a great read!

A wonderful story set in a small town in Vermont about a woman who dies in surgery after being hit by a car, and come back to life after being promised 3 wishes. Love the small town...wish I could live there.

What would you wish for? More than a love story. It's a story of redemption. Speaks of courage, of second chances, of the importance of home and putting down roots. It is about people who take risks to live their dreams. Wonderfully romantic story. Makes you believe again.

This is a love story with a bitter sweet supernatural twist. Bree Miller is a waitress in tiny Panama, Vermont. This is the kind of town where everyone knows everything about everyone. That's why the quiet stranger in the diner is a mystery. There is a terrible accident and suddenly everyone knows Tom Gates. He's the only witness and somehow feels responsible for Bree's injuries. This was a good read. The characters in the small town of Panama were well drawn and interesting. I had a little trouble with the ending, however. You'll see. Worth reading though.

This was an enjoyable book and it kept me wondering what was going to happen. It does have some language and very adult situations.

The book was a "good read" towards the end of the book it was not pleasant to finish. Who needs reality when we read fiction??

Great book. From the back, "Here is a tale of courage, community and the magical consequences of being given a second chance." People says "A heart tugging story of love and redemption that is surprisingly beautiful."

As always Barbara Delinsky tells a beautiful love story, but this has a definite twist for an ending...one that is not expected.

It's a question facing waitress Bree Miller when she awakens in the hospital following a blizzard in sleepy Panama, Vermont. Although she can't recall the near-tragedy that landed her there, she's overcome with the certainty she has been granted three wishes.

At times this book was a bit slow and predictable, but there was nothing predictable about the ending. (Spoiler Alert) - suffice it to say a lot of tissues were needed. I loved the characters and their back stories. I also loved the imagery and was able to visualize the setting from the author's descriptions. Very good read.

Now. My best friend couldn't finish this book - because of the suspected unhappy ending. I don't want to give anything away; but, do not be afraid to pick up this book! The tag under the title reads, "Expect a miracle ..." and indeed you can. I found this book to be very satisfying and rewarding.

This has been my all star favorite Delensky book. I keep all her books, unless I get doubles, which this one is.

An accident victim can't remember what put her in the hospital, but is sure she has been granted 3 wishes. She finds herself falling for the only witness to the accident and as they pursue their hearts, they discover that living thier dreams requires some unimaginalbe risks.
