Tied Up, Tied Down was just OK for me. I though Kade and Skylar were a good couple, but all of her issues started to grate on my nerves. The man had to practically bend over backwards for her to realize that he truly cared for her. Apparently, I am not a big fan of romances that involve children. For some reason, I find it distracting. I couldn't keep all of the family names straight and, at times, it was confusing; I couldn't remember who was who and which couples were together. Though Ms. James is a great writer, this was not as good as the others, IMO.
Skylar Ellison believes she is dating Kade McKay. When she finds out that it's really Kane McKay the identical brother she feels betrayed and breaks it off. Three month later she finds out she is pregnant. After a half hearted attempt to locate Kane she deceides to have the baby alone. She is a successful business woman and is used to making all her own decisions. After being gone for one year Kane comes back to town to discover he is a father. He moves in with Skylar because he wants to be part of his baby's life. He is a wonderful father, very kind and patient. He does however loose patience with Skylar. She has to always be in control and deceides when they make love and how. He gives her an ultimatum. When it comes to sex he is in control and she will do anything he says. After some soul searching Skylar agrees. This is a very sexy and romantic story. There is some rope play but no humiliation or pain. Just some great bedroom games. It was nice to see Skylar finally accept Kane, to trust him and to let go of past hurts.

Lorelei James delivers once again. Her story of Kade, the good, honest, true blue cowboy who loves the mother of his unexpected child is sweeter than her other rough rider books. Kade provides us with a determined, patient approach to bringing Skylar to her senses. First he claims her body and then her heart. Listen to Josh Turner while reading this book and you will be in the mood for some cowboy lovin'. Recommended.
