Vignettes are gritty and unexpected -- they resonate a 20s American lit feel.
This book is very interesting. Kind of confusing unless you pay attention.
I'm not a fan of Hemingway's soldier/war writings. I read it in one of my required college classes and I see the merit of his style. I simply prefer to read A Moveable Feast or The Old Man and the Sea.
Interesting but would not recommend it.
Recently I received an email from AARP listing the 20 books one should read before you die..I had read most of them, this was one I hadn't read..was able together it through PBS..
It is a slim book and is a collection of short stories, with 1 central character "Nick Adams". It is the first "book" of Hemingway's published in the US. He was living in Paris at this time (1925).
I enjoyed it, particularly since I have read "The Paris Wife"..
