I love Barbara's books. The story is real life, and it is not all well with everyone. The Amish have there faith and their rebel teenagers. The past and present are often intertwined.

*spoiler alert*
I didn't think it was realistic for a man, especially one born outside of the plain world, to join the sect. It just didn't feel believable.

A Time to Heal is the second book in the Quilts of Lancaster series, and it is just as wonderful as the first book in the series. The story yanked me in from the first page and didn't let go until the final word. We get to follow more of Jenny & Matthew's life together, in addition to the primary focus on Matthew's sister Hannah, and Chris, the newcomer Englisher, who helps Matthew during a busy harvest-time. Chris is an ex-soldier, searching for peace, after doing the right thing costs him more then he counted on losing. Like it's predecessor, A Time to Heal hits on hard themes, such as doing the right thing even when it hurts, forgiveness, and trying to understand God's Will. This is Amish fiction with an edge.
A Time to Heal is a value-added book, with authentic Amish recipes, a glossary, discussion questions, an interview with the author, and snippets from A Time to Love (Quilts of Lancaster County book 1) and A Time for Peace (Quilts of Lancaster County book 3). Amish fiction lovers will love this story!

It was fun to revisit Jenny, Matthew, Phoebe, Hannah, and the kinner in Paradise. Chris, an Englischer acquaintance of Jenny's, comes looking for peace while dealing with physical and emotional injuries of war. He finds the peace he's longing for, and much more, as he is attracted to the outspoken and determined Hannah. But he and the Bontrager family face questions, unrest, and tragedies when his past follows him and brings harm to those he has grown to love.
I would recommend that you curl up under a cozy quilt and enjoy this story of love, hope and forgiveness from a great author. I'm looking forward to coming back for a visit with old friends when I find book 3 in the series "A Time for Peace".

my favorite inspiring passage from this amazing book Barbara Cameron has shared with us, has brought me comfort and peace thru some... very rough days and brings comfort to two people from two different worlds in this inspiring story of Chris Marshall, a recovering war veteran, who meets Jenny a war correspondent, while both are recovering in a hospital outside her hometown. As they get to know each other Chris learns about a place that is all he is looking for to begin a new life, a place that is peaceful, dedicated to family and God. He longs for such a place and takes a chance and follows the stirrings of his heart and goes there. When he arrives he meets Hannah, Jenny's sister in law, a woman who is searching for her own anwers to her restless heart.. Will she ever find the man God has set aside for her? Chris clashes with this outspoken, stubborn but beautiful woman over the ways of their different worlds. But daily events throw them together and they become friends, but because of the different backgrounds they have, friends is all they will ever be, or is it?
