A return to 1990 Clanton, Mississippi, and Jake is back. A good look at the south in the early '90's, Grisham does as always, a great job of painting a picture of a small town torn apart by a crime, and loyalties that may go too far. I was just a little disappointed by the end, but still another great Grisham.

A Time for Mercy is one of John Grisham's better reads, with lots of character development. Lots of plots and some subplots. I wanted more from the ending, but it is the perfect end for a sequel as the Jake Brigance story and this particular story hasn't ended. The book kept me enthralled.

Not the best Jake Brigance book, but powerful nonetheless. Jake was forced to take the case of a immature 16 year old boy who killed a cop and the small town screamed for the death penalty.

At times it really dragged on and took forever to finally get to the trail. After the trail, the ending was not an ending after all. So many questions remain unsolved, it just left me hanging. A sequel has to be in the works?
