Annoying read. The point of view switches from first person to omniscient to frequently. I generally like Katie MacAlister and will read book two only because it's on my shelf after that though I most likely won't bother. The story line is confusing and disjointed and there's to much back story building it interferes with the flow.
Lots of fun humor. I can't believe MacAlister pulled this off while mourning her husband's death. It is very silly and light hearted. Silly being the main thing.
I did think the "proof of guilt" was a little lame but other than that it was very enjoyable.
I like Katie MacAlister and her books always guarantee a couple of laughs.
This book had enough of an interesting story line, a few hot scenes, and chuckles to make me stick with it.
That said, the main female character, Kiya, was so irritating that if the story would have been even slightly less than it was, I would have thrown this book across the room. It's been a while since I've picked up a MacAlister book, but I just don't remember her females being so annoying.
In "Time Thief," the dialogue from Kiya was offputting and a little too ADD for my taste. It was even more weird that the main character actually tries to explain why her thinking is all over the place. Sorry, but to me adding that information didn't make it okay or even cute. The repetition of certain phrases/explanations and the many, many side thoughts during some critical plot points----Accck!
Curiously, it seems that a lot of books I've picked up lately seem to have characters with personality issues. And I'm not talking extra fur or a biting habit. :) Is this a trend to make characters more "real"? I'm not sure, but I hope it runs its course soon.
So, after being away from this author for a while, I gave this book a solid 3 rating. It's okay, but there are other books that will give you just as many laughs without the main character having an annoying personality quirk.
Happy Reading!
