I have to say I was actually a little disappointed in this book. I usually love Kenyon and the Dark Hunter series. It took a little bit for me to get into this book. The beginning was quite slow.
One of the major problems I have with this book was that the writing was everywhere and not very focused. There was a lot of going back into the character's memories for conversations with others. Now usually that wouldn't be a problem but we are talking about huge monologues with other characters. It actually got boring.
I thought Teri was a very shallow character. There wasn't much depth or consistency in her. I have no idea why she abandoned her grandmother's magical ways and embraced science. At the same time for someone who dismisses magic she accepts it really quickly only to dismiss it again. Her speech was completely inconsistent. One minute she talked like a professor, then a valley girl, then a Southerner. This happened a lot with the other characters as well. As a result, I found the romance between Ren and Teri very tepid.
I think what I did love about the books were the interactions of all the side characters from the past. On top of that the Mayan myths and gods were pretty awesome too.
Overall, it got more exciting after characters from the other books showed up but really this isn't Kenynon's best work.

I love the Dark Hunter books. This one was good, but had to much back story not enough action. Still, I can't wait for the next one to come.

I loved the connection to the Mayan prophecy and how Ms. Kenyon connected it to her use of Greek Mythology for her characters. I enjoyed the explanation and 'back story'. I found it very interesting. It showed a talent for a great story doesn't need to rely so heavily on blood and guts to make it just another of Ms. Kenyon's great reads.

Sherrilyn never lets me down :) Ren is just amazing , I think he may be one of my favorites :) Kateri is a great character There were some of my favorites return to have bigger parts than they have for a while and it was the perfect story to release in 2012, if the world is gonna end this year, please send me out with the Dark Hunters :) This is a MUST READ!!!!!!!!

Wow wee, you will get to read Ren's whole life with his brother Coyote, his best friend Buffalo, and the abuse Ren suffered from his father , brother and the whole village. His mother was a Greek goddess, one of Artie's handmaidens and it was her wish that Artie will look and keep Rem alive, and she did, even putting a crow demon in his soul and made him one of the two oldest DH, Rem is well over eleven thousand years old. He will meet his match in Kateri, she is the last descendents of the sun stone protectors but also the daughter of the original Guardian, weird right. Ash will be in this to help hold the gates and even get a understanding between Ash and Nick, even Nick will play his parts and bring in his good old Cajun charm, I'm still on team Nick, I feather see his fight himself then turn and destroy all his friends and even the DH's he calls family.

The Mayans arent the only ones with a 2012 prophecy . . . Long before recorded history, there was a warrior so feared that everyone trembled before his wrath. Only a brutal betrayal by the one closest to him could defeat him. But not even death was the end of a man so strong.
The Time Untime approaches . . .
Kateri Avani has been plagued her entire life with dreams she doesnt understand. Images of places shes never been and of a man shes never seen. Her quest for answers has driven her to Las Vegas where she hopes to finally silence the demons in her mind.
What she never anticipates is coming face to face with the warrior who has haunted her her entire life.
Ren Waya came back from the dead to keep the prophecy he began from coming true and ending the world. For thousands of years, he has fought the same evil that once possessed him. But now that evil has brought back the one person he cant fight. The one person who once held the most sacred part of him. His heart.
But if he doesnt kill Kateri, the deadliest of evils will reemerge and destroy everyone else on the planet. It was a sacrifice he made once. Will he be able to make it again?
