Another great triumph for Charlaine Harris! Telepathic Sookie Stackhouse is at it again -- this time at the Vampire Summit in Chicago. A little about Quinn and Eric. Some more about Bill - sort of. And a surprise about Tara and JB! Great book - will read again!

WOW!! What an excellent read. I think that the Southern Vampires Series just keeps getting better. In this one Sookie joins a group of vamps representing Louisiana at a Vampire Summit, where trials, weddings, and other vampire business is planned. She goes as an employee of the Vampire Queen of Louisiana who's lands have been devastated by Hurricane Katrina, as well as having had a lot of personal problems.

In the midst of the summit all kinds of things go wrong, as the usually do and Sookie has to try to put the pieces of the puzzle together, while at the same time trying to juggle a budding new relationship with Quinn, the WereTiger, deal with her bond with Eric, and try to deal with her hatred of Bill, her first love. Add to all of this a plot to attack the vamps while they are all gathered together in one place and you get a non-stop roller coaster ride that you don't want to end. I totally enjoyed it and can not wait till her next book in the series comes out as this one leaves a whole lot of loose ends to deal with.

In her usual fashion, Charlaine Harris makes being a vampire fashionable! Love this series and anxiously await the next edition to her vamp series. She never disappoints, even if you aren't a vamp fan, you will appreciate her attention to details and wonderful imagination in this vamp series! Everyone should try at least one. I did and now I'm hooked on the series and always pick up the latest edition to the series upon its release!

This was, by far the best book in the series so far. It was still a bit ridiculous in parts, but compared to the rest of the series, a great story. I didn't roll my eyes nearly as much as usual and was glad I read it. Sookie is still a bit TSTL, since the "bad guys" were fairly obvious, but some of the side characters are fun. Not a keeper, but it passed the time.

Ms Harris shows why she is a best seller in this action packed seventh installment of the Southern Vampire Series. We start out with Sookie doing some everyday things around Bon Temps and meeting with some old friends. She gets invited to a wedding shower which is a major social success for her. Has a run in with Arlene, who is now a member of the fast growing Fellowship of the Sun. Goes to her brother's impromptu wedding and shows that Hotshot knows how to throw a party! Gets to find out what it is like to make love to a warm blooded male (Quinn) and decides that she might be falling in love with him.

While getting ready for the vampire summit, everyone is telling her that it is a bad idea to go. But Sookie has gotten used to the extra padding in her bank account that working for the vampires has provided and she already made the commitment to work it. Besides working for the Queen with her special talent, she is to be the main witness for Sophie Anne's trial for murdering her new husband (Definitely Dead).

Louisiana will not be sending as many vampires as normal to the summit due to the damage hurricane Katrina did, their funds are depleted plus many did not survive. Eric, Pam, Andre and Bill are a few of the vampires going and even Quinn is going in a working capacity. Barry the Bellboy is also at the summit working in the same capacity as Sookie, but for the vampires of Texas.

As with any political summit there are goings on behind the scenes, secret alliances and backroom deals. Will Sookie have what it takes to survive the summit? With several murders to solve, sexual tension between Erik, Quinn & Sookie, and new supernatural group to figure out, will Sookie be able to come out of this one intact? And what is the Fellowship of the Sun up to?

I absolutely loved this book! With this series Ms Harris has taken a simple southern bar maid and we have watched her grow with each book, and this one is no exception. In All Together Dead, Sookie's eyes are opened much more and she becomes aware of dangers to her not only from the vampires and the other supernatural beings but from the human population as well. With the introduction of the Britlingens, it makes me wonder what else is out there for Sookie to find out. As with all the books in this series Ms Harris has skillfully mixed paranormal, humor, mystery and romance; if you are a fan of those genres and have not read any of the Sookie books you definitely need to go out and get them. If you have read them, then you know that you MUST get All Together Dead; you will not be disappointed, as this is the best one yet!

I enjoyed this one, but maybe not quite as much as the others... The ending was rather bittersweet, and it felt a bit rushed, as there wasn't much of a conclusion. And I REALLY want to know where this series is going!! I am very glad that there was more interaction between Sookie and Eric... I am pretty sure that I like that relationship the best!

It took me a little while to remember some of the details of earlier books, especially what Bill had done to make Sookie so upset, but it eventually came back to me. I also remember that I didn't like Quinn very much and I'm not sure that I do still, but he's starting to grow on me (especially with something he did for Sookie at the end of this book). I'm still fascinated by Eric and am looking forward to seeing what else happens with him and Sookie in the future. I just wish things had been a bit more settled in the end - everything was left so up in the air, though it's understandable with what happened (trying very hard not to give away any spoilers).

Sookie Stackhouse's services are requested at the summit by the vampire queen of Louisiana. Expecially since Sookie is a witness to the death of the King which the Queen will be on trial for.
Once at the summit Sookie finds herself in the middle of more then she bargained for.

It's more of the same, except a bit more predictable than some of the previous ones. I saw the ending coming a mile away. But, it's like crack in a book form. I can't put them down once I get into them. So, I have no choice but to give it five stars. If you've liked the series thus far, you'll like this one too. If you haven't, you probably wouldn't be on this page. So, this review probably won't mean much, but there you have it.

A very close second to the fourth Sookie book. The Vampire Summit was fantastic. It was nice to get back to a strictly Vampire storyline after spending so much time in the Were world. The conclusion is exciting and incredibly nerve-wracking. Could hardly put it down!

I've never watched the HBO series, and I don't plan on it anytime soon. I've loved the book series so much, the TV show is guaranteed to disappoint me.

The 1st book made me fall for Sookie and her men, and after I finished it, I immediately ordered every other book in the series. I just finished Dead in the Family (Book 9, I believe?) and I can't wait until Charlaine publishes her next one. I hope they go on for at least several more. I'm so involved in these books that when I finish one, I don't read anything else for days so I can just think about the one I've finished.

And I'm very much Team Eric.

I think this book was better than the last few in the series. Although still predictable (I had parts of the ending figured out before half the book was over), I was able to enjoy the story more and found that it flowed better. There wasn't as much guess work to fill in what the author had left out and the errors seemed less also. I think that part of the enjoyment of this book came from the fact that we get an inside look at the vampire's affairs and their inner workings. Also, Bill has one of the smallest parts yet in this book (which I find a major plus) and her attraction to Eric is made stronger. I think that the romance in this novel actually took a back seat to the bigger story. Overall a better read than the previous books.

In comparison with the other Sookie Stackhouse books, this has to be one of my least favorite. There's not really a nice interesting story line as the other books and it seemed to go a little too fast. Although it is not the best of the books it is important since it sets the scene for the books that follow it.

Sookie has agreed to work the vampire convention for Sophie-Anne Leclerq the Queen of Louisiana. Since hurricane Katrina the numbers of the Louisiana group are smaller. Since the Queen is worried about standing trial for the death of her husband the King of Arkansas her attendance is compulsory.
The Queen is already in a precarious position, her power base weakened by the damage to New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina. Her main accuser is Jennifer Cater, a vampire who had been training to be the king's lieutenant at the time of his death. Jennifer is determined to see Sophie-Anne staked in the sun for murdering the king, although Sookie knows the Queen is innocent of the crime.
Sophie-Anne plans to put Sookie's gift to good use, having her "listen in" on the thoughts of the humans working for the other vampires at the convention as well as for the hotel itself. As usual Sookie is up to the task, even if shes not quite sure what it is. With the help of Barry the bellboy she just may figure it out before all hell breaks loose.

After the last book, this one was a big improvement. Relations will Bill are still rocky, but at least Sookie will acknowledge his name. Sookie isn't too fond of being a lackey for the Queen and her personal bodyguard Andre, but she realizes her limitations and goes with it as best she can. Her relationship with Eric deepens in All Together Dead. The two of them find that the bond they had formed when they first exchanged blood is now multifaceted and far more complicated than before. I am very happy about that since I think that Sookie and Eric make a far better and complex couple than Sookie and Bill. I also think that Eric appreciates Sookie in a different and more meaningful way. Sookie brings something out in Eric that no one else does and I think that says a lot about the nature of their relationship.

It was just good to get back to some of the older characters. Granted, they were a long way from Bon Temps and Merlotte's. I don't feel like the Southern Vampire Mysteries needs any more characters since every new inclusion comes at the expense of interaction with other older, favorite characters.

All Together Dead does not fall short on action and mystery, either. There is sinister intent all around and Sookie can feel it. Between can bombs and dead assassins and shifty waiters/hotel workers, you never know who the enemy is. It is also pretty hard to be one of the only humans in a building full of blood drinkers, as well. Toward the end of the story, when the action picks up full force, it's well written and done just right to level the suspense and intensity off without overdoing it and making it too dramatic.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana is worried about her weakened power base. So, she hires Sookie Stackhouse to be her telepathic spy at the vampire summit in Chicago. This job is more than Sookie bargained for. Soon she has stumbled across the bodies of the vampire contingent from Arkansas. On top of that, both were-tiger Quinn and sexy vampire Eric are vying for her attention.

Good addition to the Sookie Stackhouse series. This book has a large cast of characters, many of who have appeared in past books. It took me a while to sort them out. Once I knew who everyone was, this book read smoothly. My rating: 4.5 stars.

Another one of Sookies adventures. To be honest I think this is actually one of the better ones, but Sookie could have been smarter on a couple of different things. Or at least quicker on the uptake. Enjoyable ride thru the Sookie series.
Bookfanatic avatar reviewed All Together Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, Bk 7) on
This is a formulaic read which follows Sookie as she attends a vampire gathering in which the Queen of Louisiana must defend herself against the accusation that she murdered her husband, the King of Arkansas. This book features Quinn, the weretiger shifter, who makes a better love interest than Bill. This seventh book in the series doesn't have much humor and it's slow. The plot takes a while to get going. As usual, secondary characters like witches, fairies, shifters and weres pop in for very tiny roles in the book. The story is so much like the other books in this series. I wonder if the author still cares about the series. It seems like she's not doing anything new or interesting with the storyline. This book made me question whether I want to continue with the series.

Why does Sookie end up getting hurt in every book? She is beaten up, kidnapped and/or physically harmed in every book. It's getting so repetitious that I skip those sections. She also shows almost no growth as a character. She might be better at blocking out the voices she hears from her telepathic abilities, but she's still the same silly girl she was in the first book. Would it be too much to show some character growth? We also don't need to be given a complete run down on every outfit she wears.

Prepare to be hooked! Of course if you have read the previous 6 in this series I should offer you some 12-step program for Ms Harris' books. I don't have words to do justice to the characters (who become intimate friends of yours) or the imagination of the author. Charlaine, you are the Queen of writers and Sookie if your Princess.

Book 7 of the Sookie Stackhouse Series. Sookie is summoned to a vampire summit by the Queen of Louisiana in order to read the humans' minds. Not surprising, things do not run smoothly. I really liked this book better than a lot of the books in the series. I appreciated the way Charlaine Harris tied in Hurricane Katrina with the plot. The mystery in this book is the best in the series, so far.
