family Civil War story

Excellent book. Leaves you wanting even more than 4 books.

This is the fourth book (and last) in this series and I hated to see it end. First time I had read
any of this authors work and it wont be the last!
Michael Phillips brought his characters to life, the good and the bad. I could just picture the face of Mrs. Hammond, the local general store owner and post mistress, with her suspicious hawk eyes and uncharitable cold heart. And wise old Henry, former slave, who seen more, and had more godly wisdom than the whole town.
It is another side to the Civil War, not fought by the men on the battlefield, but by the women,
Children, orphans and widows left behind to make sense out of a world that turned to chaos around them.

Very nice series, Seemed to be more for teens but I enjoyed it. It was a very down to earth and likable characters.
