What can I say? Dorsey is a sick, sick person and I totally love these books! Serge is a bad guy but how can you not like him, as unbalanced as he is - he helps his own. These are very hard to explain to people. Murders, Florida Everglades, tourists, trains, moonrocks, etc. If you like Carl Hiassen you will enjoy these as well.
The knock on Tim Dorsey is he's just rewriting Carl Hiaasen (and not doing it as well as Hiaasen). This is both a bit true and a bit unfair. Dorsey has created an engaging pair of characters in Serge A. Storms and Coleman, both of which are the center of Torpedo Juice. There's plenty of Floridian madness, including typical Dorsey targets of corrupt businessmen, unethical swindlers, violent drug dealers, and those who occupy the fringe of society. An entertaining read.
With Sunshine State historian/spree killer Serge A. Storms. Very funny! Similar writing to Carl Hiaasen. Copyright 2005.
Normally I only read lighthearted mysteries, but Dorsey is so hilarious, and "Serge's" imagination on his umm...endeavors unequalled, I can't wait to read these, each and every one!
