I am from Florida and can relate to the settings that Carl Hiaasen sets for this book. You should know that the audience for the book is upper teens to adults. Don't get this book if you are looking for a "Hoot" type book for your child. I loved the book and thought that there were many funny parts in it. Kept me reading on my long flight overseas.

This was another wonderful, in-depth read by this author. I love how he can make his characters and the plot very complex even though it's just a stand-alone book. An excellent read with humor and action.

I got this book to replace the one I bought originally, when it was first published. I've now read Topurist Season 3 times, have loaned it out innumerable times, and shall re-read it periodically. Obviously, it's one of my favorites, and Hiaasen is one of my favorite authors.

Anyone who can appreciate Will Rogers' humor ("There ought to be one day - just one - when there is open season on senators...") would naturally appreciate a Florida native son's plea for an open season on tourists.

Enjoyed this like i have his other books but it seemed to drag at times and was a bit dark even for an author who can kill someone yet still find a way to make it seem funny.

These anti-development terrorists start killing tourists in Florida. Their plan is to frighten people so much that they go back to where the came from: New York, Iowa, all the cold, snowy places people fled from to begin with. The terrorists want to return Florida to the natural paradise it was before it was developed.

So that's the premise of this book. We get to read about the murder of an old, helpless woman who was snatched while walking her little dog. Her crime: retiring to Florida. Her punishment: being fed alive to a crocodile.

I hated this book. It was just too callous and mean for me.

Living in Florida, working at a theme park, Carl's work hits home for me. I love his humor, a little trashy in all the right places, definitely "R" rated. Great departure..

frankly, i am stunned that this fabulous book has languished here as long as it has ... Tourist Season is Carl Hiaasen at his rollicking best.
