What a haunting, unforgettable portrait of a struggling nation of people. Though this is a novel, the fact that Louise Erdrich is of American Indian descent assures the reader that there is much truth in this compelling story.

Author of Love Medicine and The Beet Queen, her third, and finest novel to date...In it the author captures the passions, fears, and doom of a living people, and she does so with an ease that leaves the reader breathless.

This is a story about American Indians. The families in this book are tied together by their loves, lies and losses. Heartwrenching and heartwarming. Louise Erdrich captures the elegance of the language......she is my favorite author.

Creepy and interesting at the same time, one never can be sure if these disasters are the result of chance or if they are actually being done by Fleur Pillager.
