Both meditative and informative; personal and scientific; American and international; human-focused and also broader than that.

Discusses trails - insect trails, animal trails, human trails in the context of communicating with one another and making our way in the world.

Well-written and nicely structured for the most part, although the last fourth should have been edited more.

My only complaints: the book has no references and no index; and he uses the weird expression "stone fences" where anyone where I come from (not to mention Robert Frost) would say "stone walls."

Recommended for wanderers who like science mixed with memoir.
