An exquisitely researched and gripping as-it-happened account of this disaster. Enjoy isn't quite the correct word for this book, due to the subject matter and death toll, but it is very well done. Inspirational and grim in turns but always interesting.

This is the story of the 1909 Cherry Mine Disaster which takes place
in Illinois. It is the disaster that led to the first U.S. worker's
compensation laws and changes in the child labor practices in the
coal mining industry. A compelling story!
