After the disappointment of the last book, Indulgence in Death I was crossing my fingers with this story. This book was tightly plotted and a joy to read. From the moment Eve learns about what Peabody overhead, she is ready to seriously kick some a$$ and the story goes into high gear and never looks back.
I liked that the book concentrated on Eve and her team's investigation. I loved seeing them work together and especially how Eve handled the dirty cops was awesome. We got to see more of Webster and I was happy to read what happened in his life. I also liked the interactions between him and Eve. The investigation of the case showed all the reasons why Eve is such a great cop. She is honest, wears her badge with pride, she doesn't misuse her position and does everything in her power to solve her cases.
The entire book was a sting operation wrapped in police procedure. The climax was a total, fist pumping high.

I LOVE this series! It is, by far, my favorite series...and this book is one of the BEST! There are none of them that I don't like, but this story stands out in a series that just gets better and better.
I HIGHLY reccommend it. Each book stands alone but if you read them in order you see the progress of Eve and Roarke, peek into the lives and pasts of the core characters, and as a bonus, get to witness an incredible love story as it evolves and unfolds!

Her own team's response to Eve's determination to bring down a dirty cop and her entire squad brought tears to my eyes! This was a great book with emotion and action.

Another great Eve Dallas action packed futuristic murder mystery from J.D. Robb aka Nora Roberts. Roarke helps his wife with his technology "geekiness" along with all of the major characters I have come to know and look forward to in each book. A must read for Eve Dallas fans!

Peabody overhears an argument between two fellow officers that sets the tone for the rest of the book. As Peabody and Eve look into the actions of the two officers they find that it is worse then anyone could have anticipated.
I think this is one of the best books in this series.

Eve and the gang are back investigating an unwarranted attack on an elderly man and his wife who own a grocery store. The man is killed and Eve gives Peabody her first shot as primary detective. Being cops and seeing the worst side of humanity can make anyone cynical, but when the worst side of humanity is festering within the NYPSD, dirty cops who have been entrusted to serve the community and protect the innocent, Eve doesnt get cynical, she gets angry. She gets irate. She takes it personal.
After Peabody overhears two cops in the locker room and quickly realizes they are planning a murder to cover-up a bigger trail of corruption, Peabody realizes shes in way over her head and has McNab take her to Eve. Eve, once again, doesnt disappoint and quickly orchestrates her own plan to sideline the dirty cops, even though she knows they will stop at nothing to cover themselves. The more Eve digs into the dirty squad, the bigger a target she becomes. I loved how Eve is like a pit bull in this story, latching onto every shred of evidence with an iron-fist grip, refusing to let go. Eve is a very tenacious character anyway when shes investigating a homicide. It doesnt matter to her who the victim is. They are hers and she, too, will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of it.
I especially enjoyed watching Eve go head-to-head with the corrupt Lieutenant, who has a high standing in the Department and whose father was a decorated Commander. I loved watching her get into the faces of the corrupt members of the squad, stirring the pot, making their perfect world uncomfortable. Eve knows the risks she is taking by antagonizing them, but it seemed to me that she was enjoying herself too much to stop and I was enjoying watching it unfold. It was a little disturbing to see how far these cops would go to keep their secrets. They arent above killing cops and have done so and try to kill yet more cops, including Eve.
Although I love this series, Treachery in Death is definitely one of my favorites. Peabody is really evolving as a character that could easily have her own series, though I would very much miss the interactions between her and Eve. So much has happened in this series that its so hard to remember that the entire series, so far, only spans a couple of years when it feels like ten or more years have passed. Time really does fly when you are having fun and hopefully for the readers the fun is just beginning.

Great story line, lots of twists.
Love this series and love the characters. This book is a good and exciting story. I really like the unabridged versions of book, this one is a very fun listen.
As I am a fan of the Eve Dallas stories, I found this to be a good one. The police corruption may have run a little strong but made for a good story to the end.

I LOVE this series!!
Some of the series are not quite as gripping as others, but of them are bad. This one is, in my opinion THE BEST!
I has all the 'usual suspects' (Eve, Roarke, and the gang) along with all of the suspense and humor we have come to expect from the characters as well as the writer. AND, Peabody get to kick some major butt!
We all know that J.D. Robb is Nora Robert's alter ego. And that she is one of the most prolific writers in print today. She never ceases to amaze me.
I recommend this series to ALL of my reading friends, and have 'hooked' several of them. I get jealous when someone starts the series for the first time, they get to read one after the other without waiting 3-8 months between 'fixes'.
God Bless you J.D./Nora...what WOULD we do without you?

Not her best book. It fleshed out Eve, but the story line did not hold my attention.

I have enjoyed this series of "DEATH" books until now. The perticular book did not grab as all prior books did. I think it is getting stale. I will read other reviewes on future titles before I buy another.
