Cozy mysteries tend to have some things in common, an Amateur Sleuth, who is trying to clear their name, or the name of someone they love, they often have a crafty or specialized job, and they often have the local law enforcement as a love interest and they often have pet, like a cat or dog.
This book has all that: Grace works at a beauty salon with her mother, who is the prime suspect, the cat's name is Beauty. Grace's ex Hank is a police officer and Officer Dillion is the hottie.
Book one in this series has all that but what separates it from the pack is that the writing was great, the mystery multi layered, plus likeable and believable characters and scenarios.
As a bonus you get some recipes for organic facial treatments using foods like avocados and egg yolks.
I am looking forward to book 2.

A fun cozy, much better than I had expected. Likeable characters that were not too ditzy. Good mystery, nice location. Keeps you interested through out the story. Will read the second book.

Good basic whodunnit- nasty victim with many potential suspects, amateur sleuth and the cop who has the hots for her, many different questions and bits of info dropped here and there, and some threats to the heroine. I liked it a lot.
