Helpful Score: 1
This book is the official companion to The Trials of Life video series. It was a great help to me when I took an Animal Behavior class that required several papers to be written on the videos. The book goes into more details on some subjects and even covers animals not shown on the series.
However, you don't need to have the series to enjoy the book. It is a self-contained resource that is well written and easily read. The pictures alone make the book worth "reading" :)

Local library review: "In this third installment of the trilogy that began with LIFE ON EARTH and THE LIVING PLANET, David Attenborough again makes science fascinating and accessible as he takes the reader, through text and photos, inside a termite mound, into the rain forest watching chimpanzees go hunting, and on the travels of an elephant herd in Kenya." 320 pages.
