this is the true story of everyone's fantasy: leave civilization to open a beach restaurant on Anguilla in the Caribbean. The couple learn the pitfalls and joys of island life in this funny tale.

There is no question that it takes a certain type of individual to 'let go' of what they have had to venture into what they know they want. Such are the Blanchards and Anguilla. What is written is fine, although a bit banal at times. It is what is not written I longed for. Did all the Anguillians truly love the rich white folks? Did the marriage have any connecting factors at all? Why did everything seem to go relatively smoothly in their transition, even though there are allusions that they did not.
I love Anguilla, and that is why I read the book. I also respect the Blanchards for following their dream and having the means to do so.

I loved reading about this couple's true adventures in beginning a restaurant on the small island paradise of Anguilla. They left their home and nearly everything they owned in Vermont for their dream.
Then along came Hurricane Luis, destroying their dream. For anyone who has dreamed of moving to a tropical island, this book is for you.

The writing was of poor quality and in fact juvenile. I so wanted to like this book but it was tiresome and hard to understand why they did this at all. I just was underwhelmed and grew bored with the book. I could not recommend it.

I enjoyed the book but I felt a bit betrayed by the authors, they are 2 east coast overachievers pretending that they enjoy island life when in fact they were living their east coast life of 14 hour days in the islands. I have lived in the islands and these were the people we would laugh at. The Authors are now motivational speakers, not true island people!

The Blanchards had a successful gourmet food business in the NE that they sold and moved to an island to open a restaurant. It was a stuggle to say the least but they were successful till a storm almost wiped them out. Today the place is well known and they have a second book out.
