Jack Reacher is again put into a position where deadly force chases him and makes him participate. If you like books with the kind of action sequences usually found in TV shows or movies, then this is the series for you.
As I am following Jack Reacher chronologically through the series I am struck at how a character who seems so introspective seems to be so shallowly grounded. In Tripwire, Reacher is constantly worrying or avoiding his feelings, as if he feels the need to be a martyr instead of embracing life as good things are being thrust at him. I hope Lee Child decides to give Reacher some tangible touchstones as he grows the character.
As for this story, which I enjoyed on CD while travelling; after disc 10 (of 12) I had solved all of the plot points and found myself a bit critical of missed opportunities by the author. My other complaint is some long, overly descriptive passages that do not add to the story; similar to what Tom Clancy liked to do.
Overall, I give Tripwire 3 stars out of 5. Not as good as previous books in the series, but leaving many loose ends that could make the next book a good read.

Another great book in the Reacher series.
