Her ex-husband has left her almost destitute. Elizabeth decides to accept the offer of marriage to a wealthy, mysterious man in exchange for social status. Besides being a hunk, he turns out to be very helpful as she is stalked by a killer.

Wow! Its been a long time since I've read a "marriage of convenience" storyline that was this romantic and funny that I didn't want to put it down! A must read!

This was a fun read. I enjoyed that Maxwell continues, through a good portion of the story, to discover new and deeper aspects to Elizabeth's character and to appreciate those aspects.

There is an element of mystery and danger/adventure. Still the main part of the story is the relationship development.

Elizabeth Stanton was shocked when her ex-husband left her for another woman. Barely having had time to recover, she soon discovered that he had also taken pretty much all of her family's fortune with him when he left. Just when it appears that Elizabeth's beloved family home, Mimosa Landing, may be lost, Maxwell Reardon appears with a stunning proposal, marry him and he'll help her rebuild her family's fortune. Max is a man who has built a fortune with his hard work, but his money and business contacts have not helped him find his place in Houston society. Max hopes that by marrying a born and bred Houston socialite, he can finally find acceptance. He's always admired Elizabeth and knows that marriage to her will not be a hardship. Neither of them expect that what began as a business arrangement would become something so much more. Can they find something with each other that they never expected?

You can't miss with The Trophy Wife! Elizabeth is a character that readers will immediately come to love and Max is just the sort of romance hero that I love to read about. A classic romance story of a marriage of convenience which turns to love, readers will find themselves deeply involved with Elizabeth and Max and won't want the book to end. I've never been disappointed by any Ginna Grey book and The Trophy Wife is a perfect example of why.

Book Description:

Houston heiress Elizabeth Stanton lost nearly everything when a stunning betrayal by her ex-husband left her with only a fraction of the fortune her genteel Southern family had worked so hard for. Even now Mimosa Landing, Elizabeth's beloved home, could be stripped away unless she comes up with a serious infusion of cash.

When brilliant self-made millionaire Maxwell Reardon approaches her with an audacious solution to her financial woes, Elizabeth is speechless. His problem will certainly solve her problems, but it will set Houston society on its ear.

Now it's up to Elizabeth to decide if this is a deal with the devil, or the best decision of her life.

Elizabeth's husband ran off with all her money and she is desperate to keep her home and her farm afloat. Maxwell is wealthy and proposes an unconventional solution for her problem. All the while, there is a hired killer on Elizabeth's tale. This was my first Ginna Gray book and I really liked her portrayal of the two leads fall into love. The murder plot seemed secondary to me, but was well done too (I didn't figure out who the culprit was until almost the end).
