I love this series. It makes me think what my family would do to survive in the same circumstances. I've gotten really attached to the characters.
I don't think this book is quite as good as the first two, but I'd still recommend it.
Third book in the series read within 5 hours - series still keeps my interest.
As the worldwide problem continues we see some of the extreme
violence that can result as the hardships deepen. We also see some of the inovations that people come up using the useless tools of the old life to make the tasks of the current life a bit easier.
An (not) suprising outcome of very basic government handouts is the extreme increase in violence where even the best of intentions can go wrong and those with the worst intentions -well you get the picture.
I am looking forward to reading the 4th book in the series and would recommend this book to anyone wanting to be challenged into thinking about what their own moral reactions might be in such circumstances as are depicted in the books.
Read them in order so that you do not feel that the author has left the reader hanging.

This is the 3rd in the series of 4 and I expected it might lose its edge, but it only grew more suspenseful. It's so realistic and so alarming that it causes you to ponder the possibilities of "what would I do" and "how would I cope, endure, and ultimately survive". This series is a great read!

I loved this book (as well as the entire series). It is an exciting, quick read that will leave you thinking for weeks after you have read it! I think it we could easily find ourselves in a situation like this with an electromagnetic pulse, or even a prolonged power outage. It really puts things into perspective as to what really matters in life. I have a new appreciation for ALL that I have, mostly my Savior Jesus Christ.
