First book in the Trilogy. Meet Skye, who survived rape and formed a group to help people who are in troubled situations. Oliver Burke, Skye's rapist served only three years in prison and is getting out soon. Skye fears for her life, this time. A handsome detective steps in and vows to protect Skye. He tries to gather enough evidence to put Oliver away for three brutal murders. When Oliver comes after Skye, the drama explodes.
I really enjoyed this book and anticipate the other two books in the trilogy to be just as riviting.

This book was alright. There wasn't much suspense in it and it was definitely not a whodunit. The next one sounds better, otherwise I don't think I would continue reading this trilogy.

This is the beginning of the Last Stand trilogy by Brenda Novak. The Last Stand is a victim's advocate group run by three women who themselves are former victims of violent crime. In this first book, Skye Kellerman's attacker is released from prison early and decides to settle the score with her for fighting back and having him sent to prison. The book is a constant page turner, with non-stop suspense and very relatable and realistic characters.

Took a few chapters for me to get into the book, but it is really good. Skye put a man behind bars for trying to rape her. He is also suspected to have murder other woman. Now he is being released from prison & Skye is back to living in fear.

Great read and page turner. I had to request the whole series because I could not get enough. There's enough action and romance to make this a great read.
I am a big fan of Brenda Novak's and while this book was good it was definitely not one of her best. The first book in the Last Stand trilogy- it tells the story of Skye Kellerman. She was attacked, knifed and almost raped. Now her attacker Oliver Burke is getting out of jail and she must be sure that he does not exact revenge on her for putting him away. There is a marginal romance between Skye and detective David Willis so I guess technically this is a romantic suspense even though it is barely romantic and not very suspenseful.
Very well written story, really draws you in and makes it personal to the reader. I really enjoyed the regional descriptions about the Sacramento area and how accurate they were!
Great new author and series for me. I highly recommend this book. Very-fast paced and very interesting storylines.
Attempted rape victim, Skye Kellerman and two friends Jasmine and Sheridan (also victims) open a non-profit agency, The Last Stand, to help other victims. Oliver Burke (Skye's attacker) is out on parole in three years instead of 8-10 and once again, terrorizing Skye. Burke has promised to pay her back for her audacity in prosecuting him. Skye and detective David Willis do everything they can to protect her.
This series starter has many surprises and unexpected twists. A few that are truly shocking. I loved the character of Skye - she's used her experience to become a stronger person. She refuses to let this animal ruin and/or change her life. She does her best to help her friends, Jasmine and Sheridan get to this point as well. Books 2 ([book:Stop Me|3391607]) and 3 ([book:Watch Me|3391608]) bring us their stories.

The story line was good but the main villain was very twisted.
