Suspense/whodunnit with a private detective married to a psychic interior decorator (yes, you read that right). Krentz manages to lose points on this because the book is about 50 pages too long. She doesn't want to seem to let go of the characters until every plot thread is not only fastened down, but double-knotted, woven in, and slapped with a bit of fabric glue to boot.

Zoe is an interior designer with a unique sense of style. But even more uncanny is her sense of what's going on under the surface, the secrets a house can hold.

At the moment, though, Zoe isn't concerned about a client's space. She's more worried about what's going on in her own house in Whispering Springs, Arizona, where she lives with her new husband, private investigator Ethan Truax. After a whirlwind courtship, and a dangerous adventure, they've gambled on commitment, hoping that their powerful attraction can help them learn to live together despite their utterly opposite personalities.

But newlywed life is suddenly interrupted when a shadowy figure from Zoe's past shows up in Whispering Springs, and her closest friend is put at terrible risk. For Zoe and Arcadia Ames share a shocking secret. And as they seek to protect the truth, they must join together, and with Ethan's help, accept a very dan-gerous dare.

Super story! Krentz always delivers the best and this one is no exception. Welcome back to Whispering Springs, where interior designer Zoe and her P.I. husband, Ethan live. Zoe can sense emotions coming from the walls of buildings she enters, which can be difficult for an interior designer.

Zoe Luce, psychic interior decorator, has finally settled down to domestic life in Whispering Springs, Ariz., with private investigator Ethan Truax after their tempestuous courtship in Krentz's previous romantic thriller, Light in Shadow. However, sinister cobwebs of energy confront her when she enters certain rooms, threatening to make her lose her tenuous grip on sanity. Meanwhile, Arcadia Ames, Zoe's old friend from Candle Lake Manor Psychiatric Hospital, fears the husband she sacrificed her identity to escape has finally tracked her down. Krentz never fully explains exactly why Grant, Arcadia's husband, wants her dead, relying instead on facts revealed in Light in Shadow. Indeed, from beginning to end, this sequel feels more like an appendix to the last book than a novel in its own right, as Krentz forgoes a strong central plot to focus on the kind of warm and fuzzy details about Zoe and her Whispering Springs friends that most novels relegate to the epilogue. She fattens the story with pizza dinners, heartfelt talks and proffered slices of lemon meringue pie, but scrimps when the action picks up and offers limp, far-fetched conclusions to the book's various subplots. Though no one will begrudge the goodhearted characters from Whispering Springs their tasty tidbits, in her rush to get to the happy endings, Krentz leaves readers hungry for a more substantial story.

After getting married to save Zoe from her late husband's family, newlyweds Ethan Truax and Zoe Luce have decided they are in love and want to stay married. As they're settling down into married life, they begin to believe that someone is following Zoe's best friend Arcadia. It turns out that Arcadia's not-so-dead husband wants to kill her. Zoe and private investigator husband, Ethan, try to track him down. As they work together, Zoe frets about their relationship. She has explained to Ethan that she has psychic abilities. She worries that he doesn't believe her.

This is book two in Krentz's Whispering Springs series. I have not read book one, but I didn't have any problem following what was happening in this book. This book is mostly romance. There is not much suspense at all. Ethan does have a few small cases going on, and Zoe is competing for a big job against a new interior designer in town; but it is just a backdrop for the various characters to talk about their relationships.

The story was also too long. The threat against Arcadia is over and done with; but we still had an hour and a half of the audiobook to tie up the little mysteries along with several relationships.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Amanda Cobb. It felt like she only had one voice for the women and one voice for the men. It was very confusing listening to a conversation involving three women. They all sounded alike. My rating: 2.5 Stars.

I enjoyed this book very much. Typical character development and fast moving plot of Krentz books.

Zoe Luce has finally found a home in Whispering Springs Arizona with her new husband, a private investigator named Ethan Traux. But soon Zoe discovers that someone is stalking her or the friend she met in the psychiatric hospital that her ex-husband's family admitted her to after his death. Great book with plenty of mystery.
