I wanted to love this book, I really did. I love everything about British history, but I found this book dry and sorely lacking. I went into it thinking I was getting a book about the Tudors and the Tudor dynasty rulers, but instead this book was more about the religious climate of the Tudor times. I understand that religion had a part in what happened in the reign of all of the Tudor rulers, but the author talked more about bishops, monasteries, and the pope in Rome than he did about any of the Tudor rulers. Another MAJOR problem I had was that the author spent less than 5 pages on Henry VIII last three wives, and hardly much more on Jane Seymore. He gave so much time to his first two wives, and the just glosses over the fact that he had four other wives. Overall this book will give you some broad idea about the Tudors, but it is VERY long and tedious, and in the end not worth the time!
