This fifth entry in Lorelie James' Blacktop Cowboys series, is a wonderful addition to the series. It starts with a "bang", in more ways than one. Tanna Barker, a Texas born and bred cowgirl and 3 time World Champion Barrel Racer, has moved temporarily to Muddy Gap, Wyoming, after suffering serious losses both personally and professionally. She meets her match in August "Fletch" Fletcher, a large animal veterinarian. He has been so focused on building his veterinary practice that he has not much of a personal life, and has always been the one being left in relationships due to the amount of time he devotes to his clients and the never-ending middle of the night client calls. Tanna, the wild child, has been in numerous "relationships" in the past, but isn't looking for Mr. Right, but rather Mr. Right Now. Little did she know how much Fletch would turn her world around.
As is typical for me with every Lorelei James book, I laughed (out loud - multiple times), I cried, I grieved, and I rejoiced. Being a romance, of course there is a happy ending, and I'm sure as this series continues we will see more of Tanna and Fletch and how their relationship is growing.
In my personal opinion, no author is better at creating western contemporary romances. While the relationship of the couple, along with their family and friends, is the main focus of every Lorelei James book, she kicks the door open to what happens in the bedroom (or the barn or pickup cab, as it were.) Sex for the sake of sex is never the focus of a Lorelei James book. It is part of each relationship as it evolves, but is definitely not the main point in any of her books. There are a number of authors out there who write gratuitous erotic books (new sex scenes every page and a half.) You won't find that in a Lorelei James book. It's part of the story, but definitely not the main focus. You will NEVER go wrong with any Lorelei James book you choose to read. Her cowboys and cowgirls are unforgettable!
Though each book can be read as a stand alone, it's highly suggested that the books be read in order, as you will see how the communities and stories are built upon one another. You will get so much more out of each book if you have read the stories in order.
