I love mysteries and cooking, so when I can combine both it is a treat! Joanne Pence gives you a wonderful "rainy day, let's read someting light" book in this one. I was a nice escape into the working mind of a caterer crimes solver! Very nosey lady who almost gets zapped!

Nothing could get Angie Amalfi out of San Francisco, and away from her homicide detective boyfriend, Paavo Smith, except for a chance to be a live-in chef on location at a shoot of the Eagle Crest Reunion Show. With her favorite soap opera characters consuming her delectibles, and fighting like cats and dogs, Angie is surprised to find a corpse turn up in the cellar. As she picks her way through the tangle of arguments and hatred, Angie's role as Chef could be written off. Permanently.

I am happy to say that the creepiness of book #9 and the kookiness of book #10 are both in abeyance in this story. Now we've gone form creepy to kooky to confusing ... but I can handle confusing ... Angie is hired to prepare a gourmet feast for the Reunion Christmas Special of one of her favorite TV shows, which is why she finds herself on location on the set of the classic night-time soap opera, "Eagle Crest". The show ended 10 years prior, when one of the cast members died Now, the remaining members are gathered to film a Christmas Reunion Show, but the tragic death from years before keeps getting in the way. Somebody is trying to put a damper on filming, but who? Is it the formerly big stars, whose careers have hit the skids? Or maybe the one-time up-and-comers who are now box-office legends? Could it be the director, who has brought them all together again? Everyone has secrets! As Angie frets about her part in the Reunion Special, she finds herself unraveling secrets, until a dead body shows up on set, and chaos breaks loose! Many things added to the general sense of confusion in this story - it takes place in April, but it is a Christmas Special, so there is a lot of Christmas theming ... Many of the characters are actors, and they are constantly being referred to by both their real names and their character's names. Various Christmas classic themes are also woven throughout, such as the Gifts of the Magi and A Christmas Carol. Once you manage to untangle your way through all those twists, you are left with the actual mystery, which is also twisted like bed sheets on a hot summer night ... Kudos to the author for keeping it straight with vivid descriptions and likeable characters, and for serving it up with a big ole' bow!

Great series! Homicide for the holidays! Nothing could drag Angie wawy from Paavo -except for a job preparig the banquet her all-time favorite sopa opera characters will consumeduring an upcoming Christmas Reunion Special. Not thrilled to be staying in the same room from which the young actess Brittany Keegan took a real-life fatal tumble years earlier, Angie is equally disturbed and intrigues when another corpse turns up in the cellar....
