Well written; Kurtz draws on magic or occult associations with Masonry to lead Geo Washington along his path. That was a bit hokey to me, but the research seems impeccable. It's basically an easy history. I learned things about the principals that I had not known before--such as Lafayette. He was young, scion of wealthy aristocrats. He came to assist the revolution despite the French king's restrictions.
Alternate history - interesting
The year is 1775. In Europe, an unseen Master peers into a darkened mirror for the image of the man whose destiny it is to wear the victor's crown. Across the sea ... George Washington ... has a dream that will haunt him for the rest of his life.
A real page-turner; I enjoyed Kurtz' plot twists and her language craft in this one.
Well written but almost too detailed in places, which bogged the story down. Very slow-paced, which I did not expect of a Katherine Kurtz book. By the third (fourth, fifth) multi-page Masonic ritual, all described the same way, I was wondering if those scenes were there to up the page count.
