This is one of the best in the Stephanie Plum series. (I've only read through 5 so far, though!) If you want a mystery that is laugh-out-loud funny, this series delivers. My husband asked to read them after hearing me laugh so often. Now HE'S hooked! (And that's saying a lot!)

I'm very happy that it took me so long to find Stephanie Plum. Now I can zoom through the next ten or so books since they've already been published! This one has the brash, rash Trenton, NJ bounty hunter tangling with undertakers and arms dealers with the help of Grandma Mazur and sexy Joe Morelli.

I love Stephanie! I think Lula, thr "Ho" turned file clerk who always wants to put a cap up someone's ass, is hilarious. I love the fact that you can almost taste the New Jersey smog. I love the daft granny! Sometimes books you can read in a day - just for a laugh are worth as much as pulitzer winners.

The 2nd in the Stephanie Plum series, it just gets better. Evanovich writes rich, full characters that grab you by the collar and jerk you into the story. Be ready to laugh out loud when Stephanie's Grandma Mazur decides to "help out" with her current case.
Hanging out with Stephanie in Trenton is like driving around my own city. I can almost see the old guys hanging around in front of the stores, and the kids on the streetcorners. The descriptions are top notch and you really feel like you are riding shotgun with the sassiest bounty hunter around.

This is the 2nd in the series with Stephanie Plum, the inept bounty hunter, her two love interests - Joe and Ranger - and her eccentric family, including the infamous Grandma Mazur. Great reading and a surefire belly laugh in several places.

Another good one by Evanovich. I enjoy how she keeps you on your toes and the sexual tension between Stephanie Plum and Joe Morelli. I also like how she intertwines the books yet you can still read them stand alone if you like.

The first book thrilled me and I wondered if the story would be consistently entertaining through book Two. Well, doubt no more. It just keeps getting better. I am loving these characters. Grandma Mazur is a prize. Even more fun than the first.

I absolutly loved this!! I liked the fact that the story begins right where "one for the money" left off, b/c although you arent really left hanging at the end of One for the $$ you still have a longing to see what happens next in Stephanie's action packed life... I listened to this audio cd on a long car ride and it really made the trip go quickly as i was on the edge of my seat the whole time! First of all, i would like to say hats off to the woman who read the book!!! She "played" the part of stephanie (and all the other characters) very well and sounded just as i would imagine her... And, being that i am a new jersey native (lived there pretty much my whole life) i think she captured the "true new jersey accent" perfectly when she read Stephanie's mom's lines in the book!!! All in all i must say that Two for the dough definitly does not dissapoint! Its full of guns, thugs, laughs, mystery, suspense, along with a little peppering of a possible budding romance between Stephanie & Morelli... In end she catches her bad guy and can finally sleep safe and sound in her apartment again (that is of course only until she is on the hunt again in "three to get deadly"-which i will definitly be reading very soon!!)

Two for the Dough is book two of the Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie is a bounty hunter for her cousin Vinnie. She teams up with Joe Morelli, a local vice cop to bring in Kenny Mancuso. Kenny shot his friend Moogy Bues in the knee and had the poor luck to do it in front of an off duty cop. Stephanie thinks this will be an easy job. Unfortunately, things turn complicated rather quickly. Caskets are missing, body parts start turning up and the more Stephanie learns about Kenny the more she wants to stay as far away from him as possible.
Two for the Dough is a quick, easy read and Stephanie is a fun character to ride along with. This case has her working closely with Joe Morelli. Stephanie is still uncertain what her feelings towards Joe are. The reader can tell that Joe and Stephanie are starting to care about each other. She is still attracted to him, but doesn't want to get involved with him for fear of getting hurt. She basically avoids dealing with these feelings and focuses on her job.
Stephanie is still new to the bounty hunter world and continually makes mistakes, but she is the type to learn from them. There are plenty of high-jinks and silly antics to keep the pages turning. Stephanie's jeep gets stolen and her Granny gives her a 1950s something Buick that is practically a character all on its own. Stephanie's Granny plays a significant role in this book as well and she sure is a hoot. Readers will either love her or hate her. I happened to love it.

The second in the series about the bounty hunter Stephanie Plum continues her adventures through the streets of Trenton and other (infamous) areas of New Jersey. Ms. Evanovich's humorous descriptions are right on the money.

Solid little mystery novel. If anything, it's funnier than the first in the series, what with Grandma Mazur becoming a more important character. A nice way to while away an evening or two.

Keep goin' - this is the second of the Stephanie Plum series, and it is just as funny, if not funnier, than the first. A young woman tries tries her hand at being a bounty hunter, and gets the job done, though not in traditional "Dawg the Bounty Hunter" ways - and with a family to rival any we might have. Two handsome suiters vie for her attention, while she is just trying to make a living bringing the strangest of characters to justice. I loved it! It isn't a deep-thinker, but I read it when my daughter was in the hospital and I really needed a laugh.

Stephanie Plum is at it again, trying to do her job as a bounty hunter and getting in over her head in typical Plum fashion. She has to depend on Ranger [her bounty-hunter hunk co-worker] and her friend, cop Joe Morelli, to help her catch her man. Throw in her off-the-wall Grandma Mazur and a mixture of other hilarious characters and you've got a book that will keep you laughing while you read to see how she catches her man this time. This is a great series, read all of them!!

I love this author, all of hers are great
While this is not Shakespear it is a really fun book as are all of Janet's books in this series. A funny writer and moves along nicely.
Just finished reading this.
I thought that this book was better and funnier than One for the Money. After reading the first book, I was not sure I wanted to continue. Sure, the book was a quick, undemanding read, but I wasn't sure that was enough to engage me for a long series. Now I'm hooked!
While still completely inept as a bounty-hunter, Stephanie is getting better. Cop (and childhood fondler) Joe Morelli is back, as is Ranger (although his involvement is much less in this book than the first). Lula the hooker is back, this time as a filing-clerk, turned "assistant bounty-hunter", and her brief scene is quite hilarious. Stephanie's batty Grandma Mazur is more involved in this story too, and that's a great thing. All in all, we're getting to know the characters much better, and that's a really good thing in a series.
There is some quite graphic violence described, and just like the first book, Stephanie is dealing with a dangerous psychopath. But even the violence has its funny side. Like a hilarious scene with a severed finger; two pages with the phrase "give the finger" sprinkled liberally throughout, and you're just waiting for that snappy one-liner, but it doesn't come - and I think that was both quite deliberate, and quite laudable!
I'm looking forward to Three to Get Deadly

Well, lets see... . .Now I have read the first 2 in the series, to see if I wanted to keep on going with this author. Might be a little too much of a female writers view of a woman sleuth for men to read (maybe, just sayin). I did laff a few times and the plots are OK (3 stars) I guess they are "light reading" books. I do plan on reading a few more, shes no Lisa Gardner,or Tess Gerritsen, tho.

I just finished reading Two for theDough by Janet Evanovich, and let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed!
What a great second edition to the Stephanie Plum series! Stephanie is back and still doing her best as a bounty hunter in Trenton, New Jersey. She's got her tough guy pal, Ranger, a total pro at the job, and super sexy Joe Morelli, helping her out whether she wants it or not!
Plum has a new case, Kenny Mancuso, who seems to have lost his marbles! Never on police radar before, Mancuso is now hacking off fingers, feet and Johnsons!
Stephanie is still learning the whole apprehension agent gig, so she's not going to be perfect at it immediately, right? Right! So, of course she's going to make some " oopses ". She's got a huge, blue Buick (very visible, not that great on stake outs), still pretty terrible with her .38 S&W, and now has this weird twitch in her eye!
Not only that, Stephanie's also got Morelli muscling his way in on supper! Her mother is fussing over her all the time and her dad has his nose buried in a paper to escape it all.
This book is hilarious! The dialog, the witty antics and especially the laugh out loud humor her Grandma Mazur offers to the plot, makes Two for the Dough, hysterical, thrilling, and suspenseful! Two for the Dough NEEDS to be on your bookshelves!

Janet Evanovich always manages to have fun while spinning a plot full of twists and turns, with just the right amount of sexual tension. Having read some of the more recent Stephanie Plum books, it's interesting to see how she was more tentative and insecure in the early episodes, contrasted with the confidence of the newer ones. Character development is especially good. The men in the book aren't strictly good guys or bad guys-- they're just guys that struggle with decisions, and sometimes make bad choices. I highly recommend this book to any mystery lover, and especially to fans of Janet's work.

Not as hilarious as the first or third which are the only ones I've read to date but definitely worth the read. It's still funny and has some awesome banter. You will fall in love with Grandma Mazur who almost steals the show in this one!
I loved the book, but not this audio version. Stick with C.J. Critt. Listening to Lori Petty is like nails on a chalkboard. She makes Ranger sound like a Mexican drug runner instead of a sexy Cuban. And the book is abridged (which in this case is good, I suppose).
Read by Lori Petty. A new reader for me of the "Plum" books. Very Entertaining story---- as usual.
Excellent series.
I found this book to be very enjoyable. Love grandma's association.

"Two for the Dough" is book two in the Stephanie Plum series, and the sheen has not yet worn off the adventures of the world's luckiest inept bounty hunter.
Stephanie has the uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time and still have everything go wrong. The simplest assignments turn into life threatening situations when she's around and when paired with her pistol packing Grandma, it's mayhem.
She is suppose to track down Kenny Mancuso, who happens to be related to Joe Morelli, her love/hate acquaintance since childhood. Kenny has allegedly shot his pal Moogey in the kneecap, and failed to appear in court, so it's up to the bounty hunter to get her man before cousin Vinnie pulls the case.
Of course, nothing is as simple as it seems, and soon she's coffin hunting, visiting funeral parlors and just to make life interesting, body parts keep turning up in inconvenient and unexpected places.
This is her most dangerous case to date and this time Grandma Mazur's life is also in danger. It's up to Stephanie to track down a psychotic killer before he gets to her.
Funny and fast moving, this one is a quick, enjoyable read.

Better then the first one, a light hearted mystery starring the irrepressible Stephanie Plum as a bounty hunter who also solves crimes.

Oh my! Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is at it again. This was another wacky and wild ride through the burbs of Trenton as Steph tries to find a killer, crack a case, and keep herself alive in the process.
Her delicious pair of hotties, Ranger and Morelli, make an appearance, along with the hilarious Grandma Mazur and ex-prostitute Lula.
Don't miss this book!

Love this series! It is best to read in order if you can
Loved it! I received books 1-6 (I think) for Christmas, so have no need to hold onto Two For the Dough any longer.
This is the book where Grandma Mazur comes to the forefront, where she and Stephanie Plum go around to different funerals. Some reviews I've read didn't like bringing Grandma into the main cast of characters, but I didn't mind it at all; she's cranky and funny. Stephanie is as funny and confused as ever!

Quick and entertaining read. Good for airplne ride or beach!
A romantic, fun-loving story about a New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, a vice cop Joe Morelli, fellow bounty hunter Ranger, and her funeral-happy Grandma Mazur.
Excellent book---characters feel real, like you can be right there with them, it is funny, witty, and just a great book that you won't put down until you are finished!
This has to be the funniest of these books but the whole series is great! Quick read!
For Stephanie Plum fans. This is the second in the series.
This is a Stephanie Plum novel, she is wity, sassy and I laughed out loud in many parts.
I'm a new Evanovich reader, and others will have more thorough reviews, so I will just say that I enjoyed this book, the grandmother is hee-haw funny, but I'd put it at PG-13 at least for some ugly violence.
Fast read....very funny!

Number 2 in the Stephanie Plum series. Fast read and some laugh-ou-loud moments!
Having a hard time getting into this series.
I resisted these books for a while but when the movie came out I figured I'd better read at least the first one beforehand. The fact that I read the second one is testimony to the fact that I thoroughly enjoy reading these books. They are perfect beach reads - sharp, funny and light. "Two for the Dough" did not disappoint me.
I'm hooked on the Stephanie Plum series. The books are easy, fast, trashy and absolutely funny! Stephanie is such a dork, it's adorable and so naive you just want to protect her. I can't wait to finish the whole series.
This book was for my husband. He hasn't read much for years, and I am happy he is enjoying this and other Evanovich books!
So much fun!
I'm enjoying this series so far.
Not much different than first book.

Stephanie makes me laugh out loud. I'm a mystery/thriller girl but the Plum books have really got me hooked. Stephanie should not be able to own a gun or a car. She is so clumsy and is such a klutz. These books are wrote very well with all the humor and a touch of sweet, kooky romance. I laugh all the way thru and immediately pick up the next in the series.
Awesome book - love this series!! Makes me laugh out loud!

great read.
I HAVE JUST STARTED READING THIS AUTHOR AND LIKE HER WRITING
I really enjoyed this book. The humor keeps it going. Feel sorry for Grandma M. But she is a hoot.
Once you start reading the Stephanie Plum books, you can't stop! Be sure to read this book in a place where you can laugh out loud!
Another keeper!! They get better as they go!! This one has a different cover than the one shown.
A great, fun read in the Stephanie Plum series.
Stephanie is back and I think I am falling in love with her. I think I will stay away though because her grandmother sounds like an accident waiting to happen. And besides that, Stephanie is an accident that has happened! This book and series is hilarious.
I enjoyed the book. Heroine is interesting, although I go for ones who win by being rough, rather than win accidently.
Easy read, interesting story.
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum debuted in Janet Evanovich's award-winning One For The Money. Now she's back, packing a whole lot of attitude -- not to mention stun guns, defense sprays, killer flashlights, and a .38 Smith & Wesson - on the trail of Kenny Mancuso, a boy from the working-class burg of Trenton, who has just shot his best friend. Mancuso's fresh out of the army and suspiciously wealthy. He's also distantly related to Joe Morelli, a vice cop with ethics that lean toward the gray zone, a libido in permanent overdrive, and a habit of horning in on Stephanie's investigations.
Aided by her tough bounty hunter pal, Ranger, and her funeral-happy Grandma Mazur, Stephanie's soon staggering knee-deep in corpses and caskets, trying to shake Morelli...and stirring up a very nasty enemy....
If you haven't discovered Stephanie Plum yet, it's not too late! Definitely the most humorous detective series you'll ever read!

Fun series... I'm up to number seven now and plan to keep reading them all!
Another good and funny one. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. I'm hoping Stephanie will hook up with Joe Morelli soon, and according to the Plumography at the back of book 1, I think this happens around book 4, or maybe that's when he asks Stephanie to marry him. In any case, though I wouldn't consider this a romance, I like the little element of romance that is there, the burgeoning relationship between Stephanie and Joe.
This is the funniest series of mysterys!! Highly recommended!!
Stephanie is quickly learning what not to do in order to become bounty hunter extrodinar. With crazy Grandma in tow, They are out for the next paycheck. But they have to hang with the dead to find thier man.
Wonderful book. A must read for any Evanovich fan.

Second book in the Stephanie Plum series - funny read with "unforgettable" characters.
If you haven't read any of the Stephanie Plum novels - what have you been waiting for? She is one of the funniest, most appealing heroines to walk the mean streets in a long while. In this book Stephanie is on the trail of crazy Kenny Mancuso, aided by her tough bounty hunting pal, Ranger and her funeral hopping Grandma Mazur and knee deep in corpses.
Another great book from Janet Evanovich - very funny and intense! She sure knows how to keep the reader involved from the very first page! Loved it!

Second in the Stephanie Plum series.
This time Stephanie is after Kenny Mancuso, a cousin of Joe Morelli's. It was good. Not quite as hilarious as the first, but definitely good. I like the character and her attitude. Grandma Mazur is getting more involved and lots of fun stuff happened. They spend so much time at funeral homes that Stephanie is NOT looking forward to ever going back to another one again! :)
funny and often times laugh out loud chic mystery. quick read.

Stephanie's new case was supposed to be simple. Kenny Mancuso had shot his friend, not fatally, and then skipped out on his bond. Should be real simple, right? Of course, first she has to find Kenny. Then his friend is murdered. Trying to track down any leads, she joins Grandma Mazur at a funeral home run by Spiro, another of Kenny's childhood friends. But Spiro has a case of his own. 24 caskets have been stolen, and he wants Stephanie to hunt them down. Is there a connection? With Ranger to advise and Joe Morelli to shadow, will Stephanie put all the pieces in place and catch Kenny before he turns on her?
Fun and funny mystery story with an unlikely New Jersey heroine. :)

Number 2 in the Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie Plum debuted in One For The Money. A bounty hunter packing a whole lot of attitude, a stun gun, defense spray and a .38 Smith & Wesson, none of which she seems to use very often, even when she should. There is a love/hate relationship with Joe Morelli, a vice cop with questionable ethics, a libido in permanent overdrive, and a habit of horning in on Stephanie's investigations. Great fun read!!!

i LOVE THESE BOOKS THE CHARACTERS ARE FUNNY AND IF YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD READ ONE OF THESE BOOKS THEY ARE GREAT
Stephanie Plum is a greatly entertaining character, as is Janet Evanovich a greatly entertaining author. This book was every bit as good as One For the Money, which kept me thoroughly captivated.
Really enjoyed this one. Great series!
Stephanie is after a new bail jumper, Kenny Mancuso, a boy from Trenton's burg. He's fresh out of the army, suspiciously wealthy, and he's just shot his best friend. With her bounty hunter pal Ranger stepping in occasionally to advise her, Stephanie staggers knee-deep in corpses and caskets as she traipses through back streets, dark alleys, and funeral parlors. And nobody knows funeral parlors better than Stephanie's irrepressible Grandma Mazur, a lady whose favorite pastime is grabbing a front-row seat at a neighborhood wake. So Stephanie uses Grandma as a cover to follow leads, but loses control when Grandma warms to the action, packing a cool pistol. Much to the family's chagrin, Stephanie and Granny may soon have the elusive Kenny in their sights. Low on expertise but learning fast, high on resilience, and despite the help she gets from friends and relatives, Stephanie eventually must face the danger alone when embalmed body parts begin to arrive on her doorstep and she's targeted for a nasty death by the most loathsome adversary she's ever encountered. Another case like this and she'll be a real pro.
lots of fun sexual tension between stephanie and morelli in this one. grandma mazur gets a lot more time in this one....
Stephanie Plum is at it again! Just as she did in the first novel, Stephanie finds herself in a sticky situation far out of her league. Luckily, she still has the help of Morelli and Ranger. This book is as packed with suspense and comedy as the first. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
