I would never ever be able to write a summary suphiseing to this book. I love this book so much, I like to wait to read it until I do not remember a lot of it, to get the full effect again. Most definitly get this book. It is beautifully written. You will not be disapointed, you will feel like you are really with Addie, when she is trapped in the Cave with the Dragon, Really with Addie when she is in the forest that has many creatures, and really with her when Ryce the sorcorer comes to save her. This book might sound too off the deep end to get into, but it truly is one of the best books I ever read, and I am not that into fantasy books.

I can't believe how much I enjoyed this book - Carson Levine has a way of leaving the wonderful parts of fairy tales intact, while bringing them into the 21st century. I'm sure children enjoy these books, but I assure anyone wanting to give it a try that an adult will enjoy it as well.

From the author of "Ella Enchanted" comes this exciting and very easy children's read about two princesses in the medieval era dealing with magic and strange and fantastic creatures and quests. If you loved Ella Enchanted or even Harry Potter you will truly enjoy this book and I hope it brings you as much joy reading it as it did me. What with all of its exciting dialogue and intriguing characters, the heart wrenching ending is one not to be missed. Wonderful book! :)

Two princesses, one is brave and dreams of going off adventuring someday. The other, the younger sister is timid and afraid of the outside world. When the older sister comes down with a mysterious illness, called the gray death, the little sister must go out and find a cure. Along the way she encounters a wizard, a dragon, specters, and has many adventures. You'll enjoy this great book!

AMAZING book for tweens and teens. A great adventure about a princess trying to save her sister's life. The quest Addie takes makes her stronger, wiser, more powerful, and braver. While geared toward girls, this book would be enjoyed by boys, as well, with its battles, dragons, ogres, magic, and twist ending. I'm 38 and I loved it!

The two princesses of the title are beloved sisters, Addie and Meryl. However, their personalities couldn't be more different. Meryl longs for adventure, but Addie is shy and timid. But when Meryl is struck by the dreaded Gray Death, Addie is motivated by necessity to strike out on her own and seek the source of and cure for the disease that is epidemic in her land. Alone, she must face a dragon and learn that she too can be brave.
This was an entertaining enough light fantasy, but considering that the author is a Newbery-Honor winner, I expected more from it. It was a little too "message"-y as far as the "coming of age" theme, and I didn't really enjoy the somewhat silly personality of the dragon. I also felt it really neglected the stated situation that the Gray Death was a serious epidemic in the country, but all the way through, Addie really cares only about her sister, not about her people who are suffering equally - and that's never really addressed.

This is an excellent book for young/teen girls. My 14-year-old brought this home from a shopping trip with Grandma long before she could read it so I read it to her and it's been her very favorite for most of her life!

Levine gives spins a tale of true magic, hardship, and romance. An absolutely fabulous book for teen female readers and a personal favorite.
Maybe not for tweens or very sensitive children. Mentions rape (not the act, only stating that one of the villains had raped many women.) and is a bit darker and more sinister than you may expect a young-adult fantasy to be. Besides that, a very magical and compelling read.
I really enjoyed this book! A very well written story that definately grabs you! Very enjoyable even for an adult!
it was a vary vary good read,
i loved it.
i loved it.
i loved this book.a must read
i liked this book a lot... lots of fantasy creatures
I think this is levine's best book ever! In fact i kinda wish i had read ella enchanted first because it failed to entertain me after reading the two princesses of bamarre. It's more than a fantasy story it's an epic and a beautiful tribute to sisters, the love, and the loss of.
please, if you haven't read this book!!!!!

Fun book. Almost as good as Ella.
This book was pretty good. I liked how the author incorporated the world of "Ella Enchanted" into this book. The author did the same thing in "Fairest", another one of her books, which I liked even better than this one. I thought the ending of this book was very good and climatic.
A very heart warming story about the love of two sisters: One a brave happy older sister who gets very sick, the other a scared, shy, and timid thing that must find the courage to trek out on her own and find the cure...before her beloved sister dies. A GREAT read for and adult as well as a child 9 and above! I absolutely LOVED it!
best book ever
A fast read. Sisters and best friends, Meryl and Addie grew up without a mother and a father (the King) who was absent in spirit. Addie is fearful and Meryl brave and daring. When Meryl contracts the fatal Gray Death, Addie decides she must be the one to take on the task of finding the cure. She defeats ogres, specters, and a dragon, and in doing so she finds herself and love. I enjoyed this.
Preteen LOVED IT Would not put it down. Not too big of a book and keeps reader interested throughout. Great reading for preteen girls.
I love this author.
So sweet! Very enjoyable - be brave even though you are frightened story. Dragons and magical creatures abound. Very fun.
