I find the summary of this book to be a bit misleading. It makes it seem as though the story is going to be eventful and funny, and it's... well... neither of those. Bowles is certainly a talented writer and she crafts fairly interesting characters, but they don't really do much. They travel, they go to bars and restaurants, they converse with companions, and that's pretty much it. Given the rave reviews this novel has by highly respected authors, I was confused as to what they see in it that I don't. Perhaps I just don't have the attention span to appreciate this book, but it simply isn't one I would recommend.
