A thoroughly enjoyable book, due mainly to Luciano's humor. Like a good Scrubs episode, he'll drop a tidbit in passing and then reference it humorously several chapters later. His baseball stories are very interesting, like the time he swapped jobs briefly with third baseman Buddy Bell during a spring training game. If you love baseball and have a sense of humor, you won't regret reading this book.

This is a great book about umpiring. A lot of it is irreverent, but that is Luciano -- respectful, but humorous. The book is easy to read and broken into sections that make for easy reading a couple pages at a time (ahem, for reading in the family "library"). There is a lot more here than just umpiring. You get the inside scoop on players, managers and some owners. Interesting reading that is a little off the beaten path.

A quick, fun read. Stories about Rod Carew stealing home twice in one inning, Earl Weaver stealing 2nd base and taking it back to the dugout. When baseball was a fun game instead of high paid divas.
