Though I found this book easy to read and found several good ideas, the author comes across as smug, which becomes irritating. I wonder how her viewpoint would have changed if she had had more than one child, meaning, would she still let her child decide if and when she would do chores, clean up after herself, etc.? However, the education aspects of this book, the "unschooling" idea part, were very helpful and somewhat inspiring.

I enjoyed reading this book. It made me reconsider the "traditional" approach.

If you are interested in, but unsure about, homeschooling or unschooling, this would be a great book to read. If you need a little encouragement in your homeschooling endeavor it would also be good.
