I thought this was an excellent book. The deafness of the heroine was a new twist, the hero was certainly mysterious. The villians were thoroughly despicable and the other major characters were well defined. The babbling of the 5 year old left me breathless as I read it. Wow....little David can certainly rattle on. I highly recommend this book.

This book had such evil and realtistic characters that it actually frightened me. There are several sub-plots that unfold that caught me off-guard, too. Above all, it's a romance between a hired hand and a deaf-mute who has a small son. And the problem is that when evil danger comes calling, will she be able to sense it? An excellent book and one of Sandra Brown's best, in my opinion.

I wouldnt be surprised that any average Joe would be well entertained with this book. Furthermore, the flow of the storyline has a feel of unisex appeal .
Better yet in fact, I think this story was design to be shared, as a gift that would be appealing & enjoyed with a significant other.

Unspeakable is by far most satisfying, terrifying, & suspenseful chock-filled with love & hopeful happy endings. This Read will thoroughly appease some appetites. This books brilliance reads for me, in some what, present modern time or past setting. While listening to this Read I was taken up carried rapturous away by some superb writing. Gee wiz I, Betcha by gollee wow, Ms. Brown writing brings out that similar wild kind of excitement & terror soooo miraciously..from ya. This experience definitely is mind blowing .A sensual flow that extremely takes over your mind also its what feeds your senses, the see, feel, touch & hear. Of it all. Its suspenseful then becomes intensely eerie-like dark .

Now thats modern classic now a days fashion. A lot of people live for. To be able to grace fans one & all alike with, is great! By popular demand theres an endless need for that kind of writing. The villains were such icky creepy crawly slugs U loved to hate with a passion. It was good to know that evil shall Never prevail over good. live by the sword die by the sword!

I never lost sight of the hero & heroine in all the craziness that went on within the story the budding love that took root, ground& gradually grew but eventually then came to full bloom. While listening casting my observation to the wind I viewed Jack Sawyer /Ann Corbets love. Its what kept me interested & glued to the story. My kind of theme I like .A hero that is consider a nobody too many but is much more. A hero that only needs a second chance at life & loves healing touch. These R some of the many themes I love to read soooo much. Secondly, I find it refreshing reading about Heroines that arent perfect as apposed to this heroine .

She was handicap she had a cute kid. It was a big plus that she is a independent woman. I wont say anything else about Unspeakable other than that its like finding a diamond in the rough.. Lastly, whats more pleasant than stealing away into a secret hideaway, a virtue Reality of sorts whether at home, in your car or on the bus.

Unspeakable either on Audio or paper book its indulgement until your hearts content, prepare yourself for love, passion also non-stop fast pace action.

Wow...where to start...This was an amazing book. Anna Corbett, a deaf widow, and her son, David are living with her father-in-law, Delray Corbett who happens to be the step father of the two deranged killers stalking Louisiana and Texas. Carl Herbold has escaped prison and joined his brother Cecil on a rampage across the southern US in an effort to get revenge on those who wronged them. They are savage, sick, crazy even deranged, serial killers who eventually turn on each other.

There is way too much going on in this book to even attempt to detail it here. Suffice it to say, this book grabs you from chapter one and doesn't let go until the last page. The many twists and turns are surprising to say the least and keep you guessing til the end.

I really enjoy Sandra Browne's books. This particular book was well written as all her books, though the content was very disturbing. The evil characters really committed unspeakable acts. I would not recommend this book. The acts of violence were graphically described well beyond what was necessary.

A 20-year-old unsolved murder in a small East Texas town sets the stage for this fast-paced and romantically charged, if stiffly written, thriller, the latest (after Fat Tuesday) from the prolific Brown. Everyone in Blewer, Tex., assumes that the nefarious Herbold brothers, Carl and Cecil, murdered Patsy McCorkle two decades ago, but neither was ever charged with the killing.

Anna Corbett is deaf and mute, but she's not stupid. When the young widow is told by her aging father-in-law, Delray Corbett, that Jack Sawyer has been hired to work their eastern Texas ranch merely as an extra pair of hands, Anna knows that it's really the news of criminal Carl Herbold's recent prison break that has Corbett hiring the tough drifter. Carl Herbold, along with his brother Cecil, swore vengeance against Corbett, their stepfather, for cooperating with the police when the two were convicted of armed robbery. The Herbold boys were also suspected of another crime--the murder of young Patsy McCorkle--but Ezzy Hardge, then sheriff of Blewer County, Texas, never found the proof needed to go to trial. Twenty years have passed, and the McCorkle murder remains a mystery. A man obsessed, Ezzy Hardge continues to search for clues that will convict the Herbolds of the monstrous murder. Soon, Carl and his brother will take their revenge. But Anna and her 5-year-old son, David, are unaware of the degree of viciousness with which the Herbold brothers can strike. Only hired hand Jack Sawyer knows the real danger, and his growing love for Anna and David keeps him close despite the impending onslaught. Yet the longer he remains in Blewer, the more he risks revealing his past--and one particular secret that may destroy his only chance at Anna's love. In Unspeakable, Sandra Brown once again flexes her "literary muscle," providing a fast-paced, spine-tingling tale of passion, conspiracy, and stark brutality. It's a story that unfolds through the eyes of diverse, compelling characters, and culminates in a delicious ending you won't expect

When Drifter Jack Sawyer shows up at a Texas ranch looking for work, Delray Corbett is a little wary of him. He doesn't know Jack, but Delray needs a hired hand to help out around the ranch. He would also like to have an extra person on board since hearing is step-son, Carl Herbold, has escaped a prison where he was serving a life sentence for murder. Delray doesn't want Carl hurting his daughter-in-law, Anna, or his Grandson, David. Anna is attracted to Jack as soon as she meets him. Being deaf since birth, Anna is used to being treated differently. But Jack treats her like a normal person, even trying to learn sign language to help communicate with her.

I found this book very interesting but it may not be for everyone. There are several very violent scenes involving Carl Herbold. I know some people were turned off by this, but it really just showed me this character had absolutely no redeeming qualities. There is a sub-plot involving retired Sheriff Ezzy Hardge who is investigating a 20-year-old unsolved murder that he can't forget. My favorite portions of the book were Anna and Jack's relationship, and also his relationship with her son, David. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Everyone in Blewer, Tex., assumes that the nefarious Herbold brothers, Carl and Cecil, murdered Patsy McCorkle two decades ago, but neither was ever charged with the killing. Carl, the more menacing brother, has spent those decades in an Arkansas prison for an unrelated crime. But now Carl has escaped and Blewer residents fear he might come back to town. Local rancher Delray Corbett has more to fear than most--the Herbolds are his estranged stepsons. So when drifter Jack Sawyer swaggers onto Delray's ranch looking for work, Delray hires him, thinking that Jack's presence will ease his mind regarding the safety of his deaf, widowed daughter-in-law, Anna, and her five-year-old son, David. But Delray doesn't know that Jake has a closer connection to Blewer, and to the Corbetts, than he's letting on.

My interaction with this Read felt like virtue Reality. Believe you me when I say it reminds me of my visit to Disneyland I took part in at Epcot center Honey I Blew Up The Audience journey was interesting, fun entertaining with turns twists & ooh goodness whats gonna happen next. suspense?!! OOH boythen I had some yippee..& there were some...wild n dark times.

Im scared out of my mind when out of the screen popped a lions head, with a ear death roar that then instantly turns into a cobra snake literally snapped at me. It was real life in your face(3 D mine you!) I also was so amazed ,happbeeeee giddy with excitement elations.awwww ya gotta love em..(the father:O) Then the father put a white mice in the duplicating machine that in turn follows with the most over abundance flow upon dozens of mice that spewed out . The mice proceed to scurry fast forward crazy wild off the screen & ran all out all over my feet..Eeeeeek..that giddiness was short lived by terrifying screams & suspenseful( finding the door fast) a mad dash to the nearest exit. I was such a Winnee.((giggle))!

Gee wiz I, Betcha by gollee wow, Ms. Brown writing brings out that similar wild kind of excitement & terror soooo miraciously..from ya. What was unspeakable when this book was written in 1998 may still be unspeakable today, but don't count on it.

I have lost the cover for this book, so it is just the hard cover without the jacket, but it is a great book.
