I normally enjoy Jane Feather's books, & I really like this series about the Blackwater Brides. But about halfway through the book, I became bogged down & had to start speed-reading until I got to the crux of the book, & then I was engrossed in it once again. Her characters are real, their motivation understandable, & the overall plot interesting. There were a few loose ends that I would have liked to see cleaned up (what happened to the greedy cousins, for instance?)All in all, an enjoyable read.
