O!M!G!!!!!!!!

One of the best of the year (so far), Hart has an eerie way of telling a story that pulls you in quickly and holds you to the end, and he can tell a story that will tug at your heartstrings, and once you're hooked you won't want to put it down until finished!

That is the way to write a book!

FYI--my reviews do not tell the contents of the storyline as you already know what it is when you pick up the book, but instead my reviews are more about
1. writing
2. writing style
3. format of story(I'm tired of the before/after, then/now etc. format!
4. too many descriptions that aren't necessary, only takes away from the story
5. the publishers choice of print (if too small I don't struggle with it)
6. editing? I don't pay too much attention to that because if the story is good enough you won't notice a petty thing like if a word is used wrong in a sentence
7. pace of the story, that is an important factor for me

So now you know--:)

This book is set in the south during the Vietnam War. Robert French was killed in the war. His brother, Jason, has just returned home after 3 tours and wants to spend some time with his brother, Gibby, who will be graduating high school soon. Detective Bill French and his wife, Gabrielle, want Jason to stay away from Gibby as Jason is a hardened soldier of violence and heroin. Jason promises his brother a day of sunshine, women and whiskey. They spend the day with two ladies, Tyra and Sara, and Jason is arrested soon afterward when Tyra is found savagely murdered. When the second woman, Sara, is kidnapped, the police suspect Gibby too. Gibby needs to prove Jason's innocence and dives into his brother's hidden life in order to find the killer. The Unwilling is a novel about family bonds and the burdens of the Vietnam War and why Jason is being framed by X, a billionaire who wants Jason in prison.
This was my first novel by John Hart and I found his writing style to be excellent and easy to read and understand. The plot flowed and I found the book to be a page-turner until the very end. The characters were vey interesting and well-developed. The ending was very satisfying and I realized that I need to read more of John Hart's writing. I would like to thank St. Martin's Press for a free copy of the book for a honest review. I would highly recommend to those who love mystery thrillers.
