I picked this book up while on vacation a few years ago. An online buddy had suggested this author a couple of times, so when I found this title on the shelf I thought I would give it a try.
This being a new author to me, I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed reading it, it passed the time by the pool. I loved that alot of it took place in the Atlanta area so I could actually see what the author was describing.
This story was about a woman's path to healing after finding out that her husband has been running around on her with another woman. Quite a blow to her ego and self esteem. She has to learn how to live again, how to make money, etc. I am not big on novels that deal with cheating, but this was a pretty decent read.

Great story, especially for anyone whose husband has decided he
wants someone else after many years of marriage and 2 children. See
how Molly handles the problem. I did find some of the language
offensive.

I think this is one of the best books Siddon has written. Molly Redwine is left by her husband for a younger floozy and finds a new life away from Atlanta on Martha's Vineyard. Really good story

This was a very good book! We all find out what happens when husbands walk out on their wifes for a ditz.....you go to Martha's Vineyard and get on with your life.

Molly Bell Redwine has had the mantra 'family means everything' instilled in her from early childhood by her charismatic, demanding mother. But in what seems like a single instant, Molly's world is tilted on its axis and she is shaken to her very core by the aftermath. When her husband of more than twenty years leaves her for a much younger woman, Molly's world crumbles around her. As Molly's stay on Martha's Vineyard widens the distance between her and her old life in Atlanta, she learns to let go of her outdated notions of family and becomes part of a different - but still very real - new family. As winter closes in on Martha's Vineyard, Molly struggles to nurture them and looks forward to a more hopeful future.

I really enjoyed reading Up Island. In my opinion, Anne Rivers Siddons is a truly great author - she really draws the reader into the story, and they are captured by a desire to know what happens next. I vaguely remember reading this book before several years ago, but I couldn't really remember most of the plot, so it was like reading an entirely new book for me. I give Up Island by Anne Rivers Siddons an A+! and will place it on my keeper shelf to read again.

Very good story line with excellent characters. Anne Rivers Siddons is an excellent writer. I have read and loved many of her books. This one was no exception to that.She manages to weave an interesting story and tie in many loose ends. Molly Redwine is the main character in UpIsland. I found her to be very real. I liked the way that Siddons wrote this tale as a type of metamorphosis of a woman going through a divorce and coming to terms with her relationship with her mother. It was good! I'll remember this one for quite awhile!

Intriguing story of endings and second chances. Molly Redwine loses her husband to a younger woman, her mother dies, and her world is crumbling. She retreats to Martha's Vineyard to search for new identity. This made good reading on an airplane for me.
