Wow! One of the best books I've read in years! Wonderful story and characters (even the mean ones); this author has one of the best voices ever; I love her writing and look forward to more from this great, talented, wonderful writer!

I loved the flawed characters and their struggles. I feel like I learned a lot about the oil fields and people who worked the rigs, the danger they put themselves in. Sad to finish the book.

This is such a grim book. It took a lot for me to get through. I felt most of the characters were so unlikable and I didn't feel the times were portrayed accurately. I didn't live in TX but I was around in 76. It just wasn't for me.
