I have read the entire Vampire Chronicles and Armand was by far the best and most interesting character. The story line really opens up the entire story line that was very bleakly mentioned in the Interview with the Vampire book & movie. Armand is by far the most intriguing vampire whose story has ever been told.

I think this book is my favorite. I absolutely love Armand so I enjoyed reading all of his story. It all sort of emotions in a sexy wrapper. If you liked what you read about Armand in tid bits of the other books you won't be let down when you read this and if you haven't already you should also read Marius' story, 'Blood and Gold.'

The Story of Armand, A bit slower than most of Anne Rice's novels but a story full of twists and turns

If you like Ann Rice, You'll like this.
If you are new to the vampire stuff, start with Lestat or Louis, or you'll be a bit lost.

Not as good as the original vampire chronicles, but not a bad read. I liked finally knowing Armand's entire history.

Truthfully, I couldn't get past the first 20 pages. I used to be such a huge Anne Rice fan but this one was really not there for me.

To me this was actually one of the more interesting characters and books of the vampire books by Anne Rice. Armand, in my opinion is much more interesting that Lestat ever was. Very good book.

One of the better in the Vampire Chronicles--but I would recommend reading the series in order, or you might be confused by the background info.

I actually read this book before I read all of the books before it. I know, it was silly of me, but hey, I had nothing to do during a summer and it was the only book that was at the place where I was visiting! I enjoyed it, although, I found it significantly boring than the rest of the series. I think that if I would have read the books in order, I probably would have read them all a lot earlier on, but I ended up waiting for about 2 years before I picked up the rest of the stack.

The Vampire Armand, where to begin? Firstly, Annes writing was as always impeccable and carrying you alongside the main character throughout the story. I was glad to be back in the world of her vampires. However, call me biased, but Armand left something to be desired in me. Throughout most of the story I found him to be almost like a brat. Keep in mind I just finished reading Blood and gold, Mariuss story, and fell utterly in love with him. So anyone who did not think the complete best of Marius was a brat in my eyes. Armand wasnt so terrible at the end, I wont spoil the story, but he seemed to have almost redeemed himself in my eyes. All in all, it was nice to hear his story, I did enjoy myself, I just did not finish the book with a longing to carry Armand with me. I would recommend reading just to hear his tale.

Very good book. The character Armand as you have never seen him before..about his life as a child and how he becomes a vampire. You learn of his deep love and loyalty to his master Marcus. I recommen reading Blood and Gold by Anne Rice to see Marcus side of the story.

You will find yourself liking and disliking Armand, I think because Antonio played him in the movie, I have a soft spot for him. Interesting to learn his history and motives. A really good read.

From the publisher:

In the latest installment of The Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice summons up dazzling worlds to bring us the story of Armand - eternally young, with the face of a Botticelli angel. Armand, who first appeared in all his dark glory more than twenty years ago in the now-classic Interview with the Vampire, the first of The Vampire Chronicles, the novel that established its author worldwide as a magnificent storyteller and creator of magical realms.

Now, we go with Armand across the centuries to the Kiev Rus of his boyhood - a ruined city under Mongol dominion - and to ancient Constantinople, where Tartar raiders sell him into slavery. And in a magnificent palazzo in the Venice of the Renaissance we see him emotionally and intellectually in thrall to the great vampire Marius, who masquerades among humankind as a mysterious, reclusive painter and who will bestow upon Armand the gift of vampiric blood.

As the novel races to its climax, moving through scenes of luxury and elegance, of ambush, fire, and devil worship to nineteenth-century Paris and today's New Orleans, we see its eternally vulnerable and romantic hero forced to choose between his twilight immortality and the salvation of his immortal soul.

I love the entire series. Anne Rice is awesome. These are so different from most vampire books. I rate them right up there with Fred Saberhagen.
