This was a very unusual (and hard to put down) tale. It is very well written and the psychological exploration of the characters is eerie. Definitely worth a read; good new author.

This is an extremely quick read, read it in two hours on a snowy afternoon. It is intense. It is graphic and somewhat unpleasant. I did "figure it out" early and waited to see how it would be put together. It is good not great, but worth the read if you need a quick thriller and you are not faint about graphic content!

This is a dark and mesmorizing tale. I read it in a few hours. It's one of those that sit with you and you are unsure if that is the ending you want but somehow it seems perfect.

I am officially a fan of Grant Jerkins! This book has creepy, shady characters and plenty of twists. The short chapters, in this and his second book, make for a quick and disturbing read. I think I liked At The End of the Road a little better, but this is not one to miss either, if you like a story that messes with your mind. I'm not sure who is more disturbed- Stephen King, Grant Jerkins, or me for enjoying this stuff so much! I loved it!
Both the crime and the writing style are deceptively simple, even stark: a simple, brutal murder and a debut novel written in simple declarative sentences that describe the action but seldom the thoughts and motivations. Somehow, that makes it all the more chilling. It's an intriguing debut by an author worth watching.
