This book is a great book for the lay person. It is more about understanding the abused individual. The Behavior they exhibit and why.The damaging effects of abuse and the possibility of addiction. The affects of the abuse is discussed and the self defeating behavior they may exhibit. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder involves a lot more than reliving the trauma and flashbacks. There is the different reactions you may have such as guilt, impulsive behavior and possible suicide. The last chapter is devoted to finding the relief with exercises, affirmations, destructive behavior, talking with a counselor and more. The book ended too early. There needed to be more put into the road to recovery.
