The story takes place in 1806 and is alittle different from most of his books. Bolitho's adventures take him down to Cape Town, South Africa, to Denmark. Surrounding the sea battles; his time ashore with Lady Catherine is tender. Yet society does not approve which causes stress. It is an enjoyable tale and kindness and respect he has for the common seaman is returned tenfold when Bolitho sails into battle.
For Bolitho fans, this is one of the latest in the series. It was published in 1990.
