It is a place you would want to go and visit or move. So really you won't want to read the last page...

This was a 4th book in the Virgin River series. While all of the old characters make appearances in it, they are not as frequent as in the other books. This is sort of like an "in between" novel. The two main characters are brand new and have never shown up in previous storylines. You don't have to read this one to keep up with the main VR series but it is an enjoyable story and deffinately worth the time!!!
I recently have become addicted to Robyn Carr's novels. The Virgin River series is amazing. I contemplated skipping this one because I thought it was just another Christmas story. I was wrong! DON'T SKIP THIS ONE! It takes places during Whispering Rock & all your favorite characters (Jack, Preacher, Mel,..) are there. A beautiful story that adds to the series wonderfully.

I've read all of Robyn's series and was so excited when I saw this book at the book store. The story was fine, but I didn't enjoy it was much as the others in the series. But it was great to see the other characters like Mel and Preacher. I'm really looking forward to "Second Chance Pass"...Paul and Vanessa's story.

A little different than the usual Virgin River books that I'm used to in that it really focuses on Ian and Marcie. Usually Carr includes two or three other relationship in the book. But it was still a pretty good read.
I loved Marcie. She had a youthful quality in her which completely made sense since she got married and widow so young. The interaction between Ian and Marcie was great, especially when Marcie is irate and unreasonable. I think I liked the Ian here so much more than the Ian later in the series (he becomes so mellow that he kind of fades into the background but not in this book). The sweet, caring soul under the grumpy man works well for him.
Erin, Marcie's sister got on my nerves but I've already read her book and she got on my nerves there too. Thankfully she is not in this much.
Overall good story with some cute, endearing scenes.

Grade B+
A Virgin River Christmas is the fourth book in Robyn Carr's Virgin River series. I absolutely adore this series. The men are the stuff of legends and it is such a feel-good treat to read. Even though this series is so great, I feel that this book can stand on its own. You really don't need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this story. However, I do highly recommend them, but this is a fine place to see if Robyn Carr is an author for you.
Marcie Sullivan decides that she must find Ian Buchanan, the man who saved her husbands life. See a few years back, Marcie's husband Bobby was severely injured in Afghanistan. Ian managed to get Bobby to safety but was devastated to learn that Bobby was paralyzed and never came out of the coma. Bobby considered Ian his hero and best friend. Marcie and Ian were pen pals during the years Marcie nursed Bobby. Then Bobby passed away and Marcie feels that she can't move on until she finds Ian and gives him Bobby's collection of baseball cards.
I picked up this book because I was in the mood for a Christmas read to get me in the holiday spirit and plus I love this series and Robyn Carr's writing. It was a no brainer. I am very happy I chose it because it was such a sweet story. Marcie and Ian are great characters and it was a treat to read their story.
Marcie is a little fire-cracker who once gets an idea into her head cannot be distracted. A little pit-bull is our Marcie. Ian on the other hand is a self contained mystery who wants nothing but isolation. His world is tilted upside down when Marcie disrupts his quaint, or maybe a better word is rustic, existence. These two have a large obstacle to overcome - that being the death of Bobby - but work things out and they do. It is a heartwarming story to say the least. I highly recommend this series and this book. Enjoy!

I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Love the characters in the story line. You feel as though you know the people and would like to live there.

I didn't think I was going to like this book at first due to the letter from the author at the beginning of the book. I usually don't like books that 'veer' away from the series. I am happy to admit I am glad I didn't put it away. I loved the characters Marcie and Ian. And I am glad the familiar characters were here too. I would recommend this to anyone who is reading the series.
As always, Robyn is a terrific writer and I always look forward to the next one to read.

Another great Virgin River Story. Not as quickly moving as some of the others in the series, but half way through it just took off and many times it had me crying. Wonderful chemistry between the H and h and lots of connections back to the great characters the started Virgin River.
Robyn Carr has great respect for the military men who have served our country and the experiences they have lived through. Her books are full of characters you may know and others you would like to know who all live in a town you would love to be part of. You can't go wrong with the Virgin River Series.
I just wish Marcie and Ian continued to appear in the series!!! This was probably my favorite VR book so far.
This is the 4th book in Bobyn Carr's Virgin River series. I really enjoyed this book. Marcie is quite a character that you'll love. Watching her pull Ian out of himself and back into the world. It is also a very touching story.

Marcie Sullivan has tracked Ian Buchanan to the small town of Virgin River. Four years ago, Ian saved Marcie's husband while fighting in Iraq, then disappeared. Marcie wants to tell him that her husband has died, and give Ian some of Bobby's possessions. When she finds Ian, she finds an emotionally scarred, recluse that resembles Grizzly Adams. Ian wants nothing to do with her. But Marcie isn't easy to get rid of...especially when she comes down sick and Ian has to take care of her.
This story was a little different for the others in Virgin River series. Unlike the rest of the series, this story is about two characters we have never met before. I thought the first couple of chapters were a little slow; but once Marcie actually finds Ian, the story became very interesting. My rating: 4 Stars.

This was a cute Christmas love story - all by itself, as I have never read the series. It is a cute story of a young widow who needs to find the man who saved her husband during the war... It is a sweet Christmas story.
Another great book by Robyn Carr. It brings back some of your favorite charachters but also introduces you to more.

Four stars for this book. Basically it's what you hope for with a Christmas romance--touching, heart felt, but not too cheesy. Chronologically, it's fourth in the Virgin River series though there's an overlapping timeline with Whispering Rock (number 3). As far as I can tell it could stand on it's own equally well.
After her husband passes away following three years of extreme disability, Marcie is ready to do something radicle to help herself move on. She decides to seek out her late husband's best friend, Ian, who disappeared shortly after her husband was declared permanently disabled. Ian was with Bobby in Iraq, and was responsible for carrying to safety when he was severely injured. In the aftermath he blames himself for Bobby's disability and isolates himself in grief and guilt. When Marcie shows up on the doorstep of his tiny one room cabin, he really just wants to get rid of her. But circumstances and Marie's determination bring them together.
I absolutely loved Marcie--best part about the book. She's reckless, optimistic, tough and relentless. You can't help but cheer her on a bit. Ian is a great counterpart to her--he's surly, reclusive, and uncooperative. Yet he can't help but care for Marcie. Unlike in some of Carr's other books, the main focus is soley on this couple and their unlikley romance. I really enjoyed that, though of course I like her other books as well. The plot dragged at a few points, but kept me interested for the most part. Bottom line, this is a really sweet little love story.

Such a wonderful book, fits in perfectly with the rest of the Virgin River series, yet could stand alone outside of the series as well. Did not want the book to end, and cannot wait for the sequel due out on 2010 featuring Erin, Marcie's sister and another mountain man! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE CONSIDERING IT!!!

This story is about Marcie and Ian. Marcie feels a deep need to find Ian and get answers about why he disappears. She finds him alone, hiding in the deep woods living a very simple life. He is tortured and she helps to bring him out of his darkness. Very sweet book and a great addition to the series.
I love this series. Each book has new main characters but I really love to see the continuation of stories from previous books. I can't get enough of Jack and Mel who ancor the town and the books, not to mention the cameos from the Grace Valley crew. I love how each of her books have the main romance but she gives lots of supporting characters and relationships significant time. It's like watching a movie with multiple stories going on. I hope she never stops writing the virgin river books!

This was one of my favorite stories from the series. Virgin River is a town anyone would love to be a part of. I love all the characters, and how they all interact in every book. This one told of Marcie, who's husband had passed away due to war injuries, and the man who was his commander and good friend he looked up to.
I love the Virgin River Series!
This is the 4th book in the Virgin River series. I have enjoyed reading the stories and continue reading about all the characters starting with (although I think I've read them 2, 3, 1, 4...) Mel and Jack. This one actually takes place in the same time frame as 2 and 3, I think. I can't wait to catch up with Marcie and Ian again!
Stands alone, yet ties in to Virgin River seriies.
