I have just started reading Julia Quinn, and I really enjoy her books so far. Kate Sheffield was my favorite heroine thus far, and I really enjoyed this second book in the Bridgerton series. I find her female characters refreshing, smart and strong, and the writing is excellent, humorous and really enjoyable! I have avoided historical romance for years, and I now regret avoiding Julia Quinn by default.
I would highly recommend this book along with the first in the Bridgerton series. I have also enjoyed the Blydon books, and just started on To Catch an Heiress. 40 pages in and I am loving it!

Book Two in Julia Quinns standout Bridgertons series delivers the heat I always desire in a historical romance. While it took me a while to warm up to Anthony and Kate, in the end the Bridgertons had me cheering for any of them, as always. This book probably contains one of the funniest family moments I have ever read about: the Pall Mall competition had me literally rolling on the ground, gasping for breath, dying of laughter. I wanted more from the Bridgertonsthey are what make this series so wonderfulbut this was still a fun read, and I will sure be continuing to read this series as always!

Sometimes (to me) the romances that begin with the hero and heroine not liking each other start to seem all the same, but this one did not. I liked their repartee and the fact that although they argued, they could both admit that the other had an admirable quality here and there. They are both good, caring people, and I felt they deserved to be happy.
I also quite liked how at first you really think Anthony must be a big jerk the way he talks and treats Kate, but that the reader, along with Kate, begins to see the other side of him and really like him, and he actually does become one of those mythical reformed rakes that in all the romance novels supposedly make the best husbands. :-D

As far as romance novels go, I liked this one quite alot! It had amusing dialogue and steamy love scenes, with not too much of anything. A quick, but good, read.

Another reason to love Julia Quinn! The heroine is not a svelte beauty. She is often socially inept and is somewhat plain -- except when she smiles. The hero can't resist her. He is inexplicably drawn to her and the unfolding of their courtship is nothing short of magical in this author's capable hands.

I enjoyed this book completely. I enjoy all of Julisa Quinns books.
I particularly enjoyed the give and take between the two main characters. I think it is always more interesting when they really don't like each other to start with.

This is one of my favorite Quinn books. I love the family's style of crochet with the Mallet of Death! I thought the background given for the hero's actions was very interesting. It must have really happened and how did people explain it??? Overall, very enjoyable.( no spoilers).
This along with To Sir Phillip with Love is my favorite.

Julia Quinn is one of my favorites. She has done it a gain. If there was ever a series to read this one is definitely the one.

Anthony and Kate's story is the best of the entire Bridgerton series (which itself is one of the best series published recently). This book is on my keeper shelf. I have re-read it countless times.
Anthony is a wonderful hero and his resistence to his feelings for Kate, as well as his affection for his family make him the ideal romantic hero. Kate is a fabulous heroine. On one hand she is a strong, independent woman, but on the other, she has childish fears that she tries to conquer.
This book is worth it simply for the scenes in Anthony's garden, the croquet match, and the scene where Kate spills the tea. You'll read these scenes over and over and sigh each time.

This is the second book in the Bridgerton series. If you love regency romances, and love following a family line, this series of books is for you. Julia Quinn writes wonderful books not only full of romance, but also humor. I would definitely start with the first book in this series, and then read them all. I absolutely love this series.

I love how you feel more sorry for Anthony because of Kate than you do for Kate and her situation in life.
Book 8 towards my goal of 240! 5/5 stars for this Regency Romance! I'm just going to say it, I may have liked Anthony's story more than Daphne's! But, they're very close for sure! Such a great continuation into the Bridgerton family saga! Can't wait to see who we follow in book 3! Such a fun book! Highly recommend!

1814 promises to be another evenful season, but not, for Anthony Bridgerton, London's most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. But this time the gossip columinists have it wrong. Anthony Bridgerton hasn't just decided to marry-he's even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended's older sister, Kate Sheffield-the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom.

Excellent story and a quick read! I sat down and read this book in one afternoon!
Complete fluff, but lots of fun. If you want a feel-good, no-thought-required read, this romance fits the bill.
1814 Promises to be another eventful season, but not, for Anthony Brigerton, London's most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that the plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better...

In my opinion, not the best of the Bridgerton series, but better than 95% of romance novels out there.
mine is the reissue of June 2006, so it has a different cover. Liked the book, Quinn is one of my favorite authors, it made me laugh in places. ***
