Although not an "action" novel with never-ending battles, I did enjoy the concept and writing. The characters were well developed and the book kept my interest thoughout. The era it covers (when newspapers were the source of most news) and some of the background are now a little dated, but it was a fun read and worth the reading.
Keeping in mind that it was written in the early 1980's and the technology (of lack of) is a little distracting, it 's a quick, interesting read. Aliens come to visit, America responds, and then other stuff happens. I found this by accident in a library in a neighboring city and decided I wanted to finish enough to look for it here.
