For an independently published book, this was very good! Few spelling mistakes and unique cover art. Kudos Ms. Maclaine! (Actually, I recently saw on Amazon.com that a publishing company picked up this book -and hopefully future sequels- and will be mass published soon.)The plot was interesting and original. I think it explored new grounds with witch-vampires.
I would have liked for it to be a bit longer (so used to those 700+ Harry Potter's that I now expect all books to be that long ;) ), but Maclaine left room for a sequel. As it is, it could standalone.
The heroine, Cin, was likeable and amusing, though she sometimes broke from the novel's time period (the 1800s, I believe) with more modern speech. Secondary characters added to the humor and realistic-ness of the book. Little things, like a kitten cuddling with a vampire, add to this story's charm.
I look forward to the further adventures of Cin and the Righteous.

I loved this book. It was a fresh new story that I will continue to follow. Written in first person, Dulcinae (Cin) is the one to decide how her life is going to play out. It was great to see the back story of the secondary characters. It was also refreshing to see that the vampires were not invincible. Different branches of paranormal are represented. Just overall this was recommended to me...not something I would pick up for myself but it was a great read.
