I love Robyn Carr's Virgin River Series. This new one? I'm still unsure. I liked the characters in The Wanderer, and the sense of community. It's got the typical good deputy, the town diner, even the stereotypical "slutty" realtor. I really liked Cooper, but didn't feel like we got to know Sara as well. Loved the other story lines, romantic and not, in the story. I felt that while the story progressed, and there were a few interesting story lines, everything was surface level. I liked Coop as a person, but didn't really "feel" like I knew what made him tick. Sara was nice, but backgrounds on both of them were shallow. They were both carrying a lot of weight from the past too, which was a little confusing since it wasn't clear. What did Coop do for a living? How could he pay for the renovations? I didn't really get a sense of his background, but liked who he is now.
It was a good first in a series book, and was obviously written as part of a series. Does that make sense? There's not a lot of completion. The ending was cute. I like how we meet the people and really follow Coop through his journey before the romance starts. I'll definitely be picking up the others in this series.

Coopers a bit of a wanderer. He has been told he has commitment issues and he just cant seem to stay in one place for long. When his Army buddy, Ben, dies he doesnt find out until weeks later. After receiving a call that Ben has passed away and that he has been left something Cooper packs up his mobile life and heads to Thunder Point. When he gets there he finds Ben has a breathtaking view and enviable land but the buildings are run down. What was supposed to be a quick trip suddenly gets extended.

Cooper and Sarah werent really at the forefront of this book. In fact, the two characters dont even meet until page 171. Up until that point Cooper and her nephew, Cooper and the town deputy have the major conversations and relationships. There is an introduction to the town, the people and a real getting to know everyone and the place in the first half of the book before our two main characters collide. Usually I would have been foaming at the mouth for the connection, but I enjoyed the meet and greet with Thunder Point and all that was going on so much, I almost forgot a romance was supposed to happen.

I thought and was a little worried we were going to get Virgin River the Sequel and I am happy to report we are not. Sure the characters in both series are awesome and the books just make you feel good, but it read like its own entity. Its not a carbon copy but an entirely different series, town and characters with the impossible to put down writing style that I have come to know. Bravo!

First book in a new series by Robyn Carr. There is a loose connection between Carrs Virgin River series and this one, as the main character Cooper is a friend of one of the Riordan boys from Virgin River. Cooper gets a mysterious message to visit the small beach enclave of Thunder Point to receive something from an old Army buddy who died in an accident. Good small town story, although I dont love this series quite as much as Virgin River (so far). But good enough to read the next book which comes out at the end of June.

I really enjoyed the book. As with most Carr books, you don't just get Sarah and Cooper's story (which they don't meet until several chapters in), you get a few other interesting ones as well. I liked that the book was about relationships in general of all different ages and perspective. The one I found most interesting was Sarah and her brother's dynamics.
The ending of the book was slightly abrupted but I assume as the series progresses you will learn more about Sarah and Cooper.
The book takes its time so be patient but I think it's worth it.

This was a difficult book to get into. I can usually read a book in a couple of days, but this one took about twice that long. The storyline is okay ,but there are so many characters to keep up with. I know its the first in a series ,but I felt it could have focused a little more on Cooper and Sarah. I actually enjoyed the Deputy McCain storyline the best. I will probably read the next book in the series, but I hope it's more interesting.
