Excellent! This book drew me in and deposited me right into the realm of Fairie. It is one of those book you don't want to end. One of those stories that stick with you for weeks.

Not my favorite by Tad Williams, but it is well written and engrossing. It's a long read, over 800 pages, but it stands alone - it's not part of another series.

Like most Tad Williams stories, this one has strongly developed and interesting characters, and a very creative story line. Although I love long books, and this one has over 800 pages, the plot might have been improved with tightened editing. This book isn't quite as good as those in his Otherland series (which was truly addicting), but I still give it a good recommendation.

I thought War of the Flowers was lame for the first chapter or so (which deals with a loser rock-&-roll musician first dealing with his girlfriend having a miscarriage, then his mother ill and dying...), then I changed my mind - once Faerie came into the picture, and William's quirky world-building skills were given the chance to shine... A remarkable picture of a glamorous yet corrupt land, where, in imitation of humanity, fairies cut off their own wings, enslave one another, and will do anything in the pursuit of power... much like our own land. Constantly on the run from terrifying monsters and any number of plotting and amoral lords of the land, Theo Vilmos must find his true identity and a place for himself....

Tad Williams excels in creating fascinating worlds with their own unique rules. The faerie world of the War of the Flowers makes this book a masterpiece. I could have done without the pairing up of the main characters at the end of the book, it struck me as contrived. Overall, a brilliant work.

What can I say!?! Tad Williams is an absolute genius! This "stand-alone" fantasy was pleasure to read from page one. Please, God, can I live inside Mr. Williams brain some day?!? If you have any sense, you will read every single word this man has ever written - and then beg for more!
This book was a bit hard to get into. I had difficulty keeping all the elven houses separated, and other characters were not well characterized. It did finally all come together at the end, but more than once I was tempted to put it aside.

This was a great book. It did not fail to entertain! Great characters, great story too! I enjoyed the mixture of our world and the fairy world and how similar they were. A tale of racism, and daily problems. I liked how I was surprised by a couple of twists in this book. Doesn't happen much anymore. And I liked how I connected with the characters as well. A very good read!

An interesting story about a mortal man dragged into the fairy realm he never even suspected exisited. Very good.
War of the Flowers is an exciting adventure where the world of magic intrudes into the life of a guy, Theo Vilmos, who plays in a small time rock band. The world of Faerie sucks him into this other world which is full of enemies and unknown dangers. Vilmos tries to find out why this is happening to him and embarks on a journey in search of answers. The miracle of this book is that Williams packs the whole story into this one volume.
An alternate universe, stand-alone fantasy that takes place in the present. The assassin is known as the Remover of Inconvenient Obstacles. One wonders what a convenient obstable would be.
This book was amazing! Although it starts out a little slow and somewhat depressing, Williams' ex-rock-and-roll band member character is truly life-like and easy to connect to, even for younger readers who may not be familiar with the culture associated with being in a band.
The writing is superb, and the description that Williams uses is exceptional but not boring at all, as he cleverly weaves it into the story. The modern fairy tale that the character is drawn into is very realistic, which seems to be a gift that Williams has. An outstanding fantasy novel, and a must-read for fantasy fans everywhere!

I loved this book. It sucked me in and held me close all the way to the end. I read the whole thing in a weekend.
