Good story about revenge and reincarnation but it was too long. It started strong. Halfway through the book I found myself skim reading most of it. For someone being 500 years old, John Nightwalker wasn't too smart about hiding the fact he was immortal and didn't age. I'm sure someone would have written some articles about him or tried to tie him to a lab. Alicia was not too smart on the uptake and for the most part acted like a spoiled brat. She had her good moments but I'm not sure they made up for her weak character. I did like the fact that she knows she was in over her head and didn't do anything stupid. There were a lot of pages dedicated to "Do I believe him?" despite the fact she has seen him heal from gunshot wounds. Needless to say it got old. It seems consistent with Sala's writing that her love scenes are rather tepid. Emotionally the book was rather flat. But with all the complaints, it was a decent story. "The Healer" was much better.

John Nightwalker watches as his entire native Indian village is wiped out and swears vengance on the leader of the explorers who took their lives. A great white light shines on him while he screams his oath - fast forward 500 years and he is still searching for the man with the evil sole of the explorer. Alicia is on the run from her father, an arms manufacturer who she has over heard telling his partner that he is selling guns to both the good guys and the bad guys. John and Alicia's paths cross when one of her father's goons tries to strong arm her into his car to return her to her father. John rescues her and takes her on the run to protect her. Alicia's father turns out to be the man John has been searching for. Of course John and Alicia end up falling for each other and the story proceeds with nice little twist, visits from Angles, etc. I found it to be a great page turner.

Good story line, got a little long in some areas with descriptions, etc. but it is more of a love story line than a mystery.
